I love my XE but I do have a couple of minor pet peeves with it. First, I miss having real wood and copious amounts of real leather in the interior. Watching commercials from a certain Japanese car manufacturer taking pride in their interior's use of wood and leather doesn't help. Second...and this is extremely minor and may have already been "updated"...my wife's F-Pace has floodlights mounted on the underside of the sideview mirrors that illuminate the ground when you unlock/open the doors. My XE has those floodlights too, but hers actually puts the word Jaguar on the ground while mine is just a plain circle of light. Dammit!

Try lower your seat for the lower arm rest - this way you can cruise with your left hand on the bottom left of the wheel. This is of course if it's comfortable for you. I'm 5'10 175, suits me well.

Easy question! My '17 XE is LITERALLY COMPLETELY COVERED front to back with brake dust rust and I've barely rolled over 3000mi. What kind of mickey mouse horsesh!t pads are on this "brand new luxury car"? Anybody else have this issue? I never brake hard and drive like a grandma.

Actually the pads are a corporate reaction from the dusty pads that brought XF down in JD Powers ratings (from what I read). Previous pads across the Jaguar portfolio dusted the same as a BMW or Audi, but Jaguar got nicked more for it. The XE pads dust much less than my XK did FWIW. I am not a fan of the brakes a whole. They look too down market compared to Alfa or Maserati.

Many of us with XF models shifted to aftermarket ceramic pads. Mine is the 5.0L SC model with huge brakes and a set of EBC redstuff pads is about $250 as far as I remember. Easy to swap on instead of the oem ones. And vast improvement in the dust situation. There are better looking rotors too if you want to improve sporty appearance

Mercedes, BMW and Audi have the same dust issue. European brakes are formulated to deal with crowded roads and more aggressive driving than in North America. So softer pads with dust and a shorter pad life usually.

That may be but I've had 3 audi's, 2 bmw's, and 2 jags. 4 of which were white. I've never experienced anything even remotely close to this. My 09' A4 had a bit of dust rust accumulation after about 70,XXX miles and still didn't compare to this.

Only actual complaint
Trunk space - As previously stated, unless you take all the woods out you cannot fit your bag into the trunk.

Wish I had complaints
The App - not being able to function your windows/sunroof, sure I can see the staus thanks but let me do something. Not being able to activate the heated wheel or seats. Not being able to get to see time until next service, it shows a checkmark great! How close does that mean?

Engine Noise - The Exhaust nor the Supercharger is loud enough you can barely even hear either at WOT, I would expect some noise out of the sports model. None adjustable exhaust.

Don't understand
Park feature - I am sure it is something I have not picked up on yet but I can't figure out why sometimes when I put it in park it pus the parking brake on, shuts off, lifts the steering wheel, and retracts the drive knob (even when not in auto stop). Other times I put it in park and it just applies the parking brake. I read on a different forum it is when you unclick the seat belt, not for me. I can't figure out what the "trigger" is.

2) 120 MPH Speed limiter on the USA spec jags. (Can be rectified with an ecu program.)

3) Heated windshield in the loaner XE had a screen-door effect that drove me CRAZY. If you don't need it, don't get it.

4) Factory Continentals not sticky 'enuff to handle the horsepower of that lovely 6 cylinder engine...

5) Navi system is a little average. (You can speed it up easily and cheaply by upgrading your SD card to a class 10 media. Thanks Sam486).

6) I wish the sunroof controls were located down on the center console, not on the roof...

These are all minor and I am no longer affected by gripes 1-4 after the ECU tune and new rubber. :-)
Keep in mind that the 120 mph speed limit is due to the tires fitted by the factory to the 18 and 19 inch diamter wheels having only an "H" speed rating. Those that get the ECU tune and actually intend to exceed 120mph should consider a set of upgraded tires.

I'm really missing a few creature comforts from previous vehicles.
- Personalized seat/controls tied to the remote. Even my last Ford had this.
- As others have lamented, lack of Android Auto integration
- Satellite weather/radar is very useful in the PNW, but sorely lacking here
- For some reason, my car body makes loud audible squeaking noises when going over curbs. WTF? The dealer claims it's normal.
- Windshield wiper maintenance position? What?
- Minor nit, but the placement of the windshield washer reservoir is terrible

I also made the regrettable choice of buying a showroom car. I didn't really appreciate the wear and tear inflicted by prospective buyers and their children on showroom cars.

Yikes that's terrible. I am sure part of this issue is also the incredibly soft clear coat on these cars. It's easily the softest and easiest to scratch/swirl paint I have ever seen.

You might want to try an iron decon product like Iron X. You spray it on and anywhere there's iron dust/filings and such will turn purple. You then wash it off.

Check out the Autopia Forums, there's alot of info there.

IronX will save you labor when detailing the car. After it is washed, do a round with IronX and then a clay bar or nano mitt will go much faster. IronX smells and will stay with the car a few days after the detail...

1) Too much shiny piano black trim inside car. Coming from a Lexus GS F Sport that was covered in aluminum trim, it's hard to fathom how my SPORTS sedan had a $50k sticker with an interior like this... Love the car overall but Jag should probably swap in some different interior materials in future models to differentiate the base models from the sportier models. Black aluminum might look cool? I don't know, anything but a bunch of piano black that ends up getting scratched and covered in grime. Charge customers .1% more for the car and make the interior more competitive with the Germans...

2) Overall quality control lacking a bit - Some minor things but they add up! Transmission tuning isn't great, pro reviews say the same thing. When pulling in to driveways minor bumps the car creaks a lot. InControl shuts down and resets too often or gets stuck in reverse camera mode. Perhaps specific to my model but the car idles pretty rough for a premium car. I have forgiven the car for this since I have a supercharged engine (I like to think that the car just doesnt want to sit still!).

Overall, I dont think of this as being a luxury car/brand in any way. It's a sports car that happens to fit my toddler's car seat well enough! As long as I drive it like a sports car I can forgive these faults. Plus, I like that fact that it stands out compared to the 1,000,000+ 3-series BMW's out on the road.

Funnily enough I actually like the interior in the XE, though personally I think that the high point of Jag interiors was the first gen XF premium luxury which has a lovely blend of good leather, aluminium, and the odd bit of wood. Mine had ivory, oyster, and walnut and oozed class. My second was more like the XF - black with piano black, and even though I wasnt a fan of walnut I ended up missing them.
The current crop arent as plush. but I think the XE is a lot more functional inside than the C Class benz, and despite the reviewers gagging over A4 interiors they look cheap and tacky to me.
Ultimately though I was reading a comparison of the XF wagon to the current volvo wagon, and I think the reviewer cracked it when he said that the volvo feels like a luxury car trying to be sporty when the Jag feels like a sports car trying to be luxurious. Which is I think what you are saying as well.

Yes exactly (regarding sports sedan trying to be luxurious). I'm just a hater of high end manufacturers going REALLY cheap on some parts of the interior (ie, black plastic / no soft touch on the sides of center console on the XE). Our 2nd car is a 2018 Acura MDX and the sticker prices are very similar between the two cars yet the MDX has soft touch everything, Acura and Lexus for example do this very well. I understand Jag and the Germans want to make a few extra bucks but once that "entry level" car starts hitting $50k+ it's not really the prettiest thing to see. That's my small gripe, but... they all seem to do it so it wont change haha. I guess this is how the non German lux guys like Acura, Lexus, Infinity, etc can differentiate, try NOT to incorporate the uber cheap interior parts in their mid priced cars and steer some buyers away from the Germans. But, those guys don't have supercharged beasts!

That is the way I see them too. V90 is an amazing interior; very high quality. I am hoping the XF wagon doesn't sell so well by the time our XE is up so I can get a good lease deal on one. If not, the wife is hot on the V60 which would also save us some coin.

That's why a resale value of above mentioned cars is high, despite Acura has a high speed vibration issue lasting already 3rd generation and Lexus also has own woes and sorrows. The luxury brands with a new budget spec have got their spot under the sun because of certain public who just needs to drive the brand name. In my personal experience I just physically can't roll to my clients in Toyota or Acura. I know, I could opt for Lexus but the clients I go to have all nurses driving the Lexus (toyota) Infinities(Nissan) and Acura(Honda). I had a choice the Germans(again) or the Jag. The luxury ones is mostly leased now, and per-owned market makes them more affordable. There are a lot of marketing details in this story too, but I better not too flood this thread.

Here is my issues:
- after 2k on ODO a rattle is very mild somewhere in the back seat.
- after 3k a rattle somewhere in the driver's side area very moderate.
- a crack on the B glossy pillar developed after 3k miles.
- the rear interior plastic covering a wheel hump is coming out every time I tuck it back in.
- since car is dark blue the millions of stone chips under the rear doors( there was a thread somewhere the Jag doesn't want to admit a design flaw and the dealers re-paint at theirs expense the whole area),
- the head lights on the premium is worse than a tuk tuk's base model.
- the heated windshield along with crappy light bulbs your worst enemy at night.
- an infotainment hangs a lot sometimes dangerously while I'm backing up. The picture is freezing despite the vehicle in motion. Stopped the car 3 inches from someone's bumper despite a picture showed a quite distance. Imagine if it would be a child or people crossing behind as they always love to do behind moving vehicle!!!
Stay tuned for more I have only 4k on ODO yet.

For those with a break dust on the white paintwork get a clay bar and Iron-X, read the instruction before use.

To stick with the OP's request for two complaints:

1. Why a switch for the heated steering wheel? Put it on when the heated seats are on. Similarly, why can't the heated/cooled seats go on when the heat/AC goes on? I know this one is energy related but how about giving the owner the option? Seems (too?) logical to me.

2. The driver's side floor mat does not cover the floor! I never had a car with a small mat like that that doesn't cover the carpet.

My car is new and I'm sure there will be more but those two are head-scratchers.
