Hi all, there's been more than a few calls for this section to be opened in advance of the new vehicle, so here it is.....

I'm sure this is with the most efficient engine, and also this is the EU cycle, but still sounds impressive, though I'm not sure where the competition stands.

I'm sure this is with the diesel engine. Also imperial gallons. Still this it what Jaguar will need to offset the FE of their other cars.

I would imagine it's the new 2.0L, though I don't know if they're offering engines below that for other markets. Either way the little conversion calculator I used gave me 62mpg. That is really good, especially if that is the combined rating. I doubt we'll see the diesel in the US, but you never know.

Its such a shame that these never seem to make it to the US, why is that?
There seems to be a call for them from a few members here or there.....perhaps once petrol prices start to rise somewhat?

I think we will get a 2.0, 2.0 turbo and hopefully a supercharged 3.0 to compete with the "other" guys.

Their test cycle isn't the same as ours either so it's not a direct conversion but I'm sure it still has to be a healthy number. I would think that it would meet US standards. But Jaguar is pretty low volume so I can see why they wouldn't offer it.

Kind of off topic, but I have wondered, if they just left the 3.0 naturally aspirated how much power would it make? Surely it would be a better match than the 2.0L borrowed from Ford.

This should be pretty fun with the V6. I hope they really have the electric powered steering fine tuned, most I've driven just feel weird to me.

But these are brand-new JLR engines built at their new engine plant in Wolverhampton and will be used by both Jaguar and Land Rover. No mention of a non-turbo from them so base engines are 2.0T petrol and 2.0T diesel. I don't see them using a non-suped V6 becuase a) they don't have one and would have to develop it and b) it's power/torque would overlap the 2.0 litre engines but not give you 75 mpg or anything like it.

I'm dreaming of a manual transmission in the four-cylinder cars :)

I think you misunderstood me, I'm not talking about the upcoming Ingenuim engines which happen to be 2.0L like the base engine in the XF and Evoque. I was just wondering if they had a naturally aspirated version of their 3.0L how it would compare to the current 2.0 borrows from Ford.

Any car in this section of the market must sell well in Europe with its very high fuel prices, so must be economical. This means manual gearboxes are virtually guaranteed to be available, and most cars will be sold with the smaller engines. Of course there will be a few "power" cars made to get attention, but the money is in the smaller engine cars. Diesels will have to pass a much more stringent emissions test soon, so it is my hope the petrols will once again become volume sellers.

Does anyone know the actual time GMT when the release takes:icon_shrug: place I understand it will be streamed as well but we will be in UK on the day and it would be great to watch it live

Does anyone know when the actual London release takes place. I just hope the XE will be a distinctive Jaguar and not another "look alike"

Does anyone know the actual time the release will take place in London? Each time they give a little more info I feel the price going up !

I'm sure Jaguar will announce a time closer to the reveal, I usually get all of my information from interactivejaguar.com or media.jaguar.com.

September 8th is the day for the XE press launch at a secret location in London.The XE I happened to see this week near Gaydon looked just like a smaller version of my XF.

On the evening of the 8 September, Jaguar will hold two special events in London to mark the unveiling of the new Jaguar XE, a true driver's car; one that redefines the concept of the mid-size sports saloon.

Jaguar will reveal the XE S Derivative only. The full XE range will be revealed at Paris Motor Show press conference on 02 October at 14:45/15:00 CEST.
