09 XF SC 4.2 catalytic converter
Hello all, first post here - I’m the original owner of a 2009 XF Supercharged 4.2 that just crossed 150k miles here in the northeast US
Car is running great but with recurrent Check Engine lights, also the parking brake doesn’t work. Annual inspection is due so trying to address fault codes. We’re down to a single persistent fault code that indicates catalytic converter fault. Anyone here have to replace catalytic converters (mine has two) on your car? this is where it gets interesting. OEM no longer manufactures the part, and there do not appear to be any available. Hence dealership can’t help and I’m at my trusty local Jag shop. Catco offers an “aftermarket direct fit” (not OEM) part. Please advise! |

EDIT: It's been a while since I last searched for this, turns out at least for my 5.0 that Magaflow offer CA legal direct fit replacements (at $1800 a side though). Looks like similar might also be available for the 4.2? I don't think there's necessarily a reason to avoid aftermarket cats so long as the shop can vouch for the company/supplier. I'm not sure of differences on the 4.2 but on my 5.0 removing the cats is not a hard job, although the higher the car, the more comfortable it'll be... |
California is a beautiful state...to visit.

It's also worth periodically checking fuel trims for the same reason. |
