2011 Jaguar XF camshaft position sensor location
Hi new member to the jaguar ownership. I live in Atlanta Georgia just Brought a 2011 Jaguar XF in september. I try to diy when possible on the small stuff. What brings me to the forum., well a problem with a camshaft position sensor on bank 1 sensor A. On initial start up if the car is cold the rpm rev for about 45 secs and if I drive off I get a check engine light and reduce performance light after 5 minutes the reduce performance clears and the check engine light goes away after about 50 miles. If I let the car warm up I don’t get a check engine light at all. Scanned and pulled camshaft sensor code. Where are the camshaft position sensors located.. does this sound like a failure of the sensor

There's not going to be any discussion about problems that cause a check engine light until you read and post the codes. It's silly to think of troubleshooting any modern car without pulling the codes. Why?? Why would you do that?? Why??
The total cost to read the codes is about $0.00 at a parts store. Again, why??
How could you possibly be a DIY'er if you don't even think to pull the codes? What are able to DIY? Putting in gas? Washing the windshield? You always pull the codes!!
The total cost to read the codes is about $0.00 at a parts store. Again, why??

If you have any version of the 5.0 V8, the 4 cam position sensors (2 on each head) are located on the upper timing cover, on the front of the engine, bank 1 is the left 4 cylinders when facing the car. Looks like you have an issue with the intake cam position sensor bank 1. If any cam position sensor fails, the engine goes into limp mode. It should be just a remove and replace fix. Hope this helps.

OP, get yourself a copy of the AJ133 Technical Training doc from my Dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8y4iax9hm2...%20V8.pdf?dl=0
Then go to page 62.
