Default 2014 XF 3.0 sc AWD

So I bought my XF last Thursday and part of my terms I insisted on new tires. So the dealership is replacing them. I drove the car in Friday and I got a low coolant level warning so I had to bring the car back (as they had to put the tires on anyway). They brought the car to the specialist mechanic and it turns out a water pump needed to be replaced. So I wouldn't have the car back until Monday. Then Monday rolls around and I was informed a small hose (Not sure which one) needed replacing as well. The next day I was told another part was leaking and they are replacing that as well, and the following day the same thing. All told over 3000 dollars of work is being done on the car and I can't have it until next Monday. My question is should I be happy they are replacing all of these parts (at no cost to me) and the engine is being overhauled, or should I ask to cancel the sale and find another car (of the same model)? I know the parts that are being replaced won't be giving me any trouble if they are new at least. The car has 50000 miles on it by the way. Thanks.

Is the car still under the factory warranty? It should be since that warranty runs for 6 years after initial activation. If not, then I for one would suggest searching for a similar car that has the extended warranty.

Just because they're fixing those things doesn't mean that others might not creep up. You don't really know how the car was maintained and used.

That is what I did with my S-Type, I found one with 48K mi and 11 months left on the factory warranty. It let me know that the car was fundamentally sound when the warranty finally expired. I figured that any issues related to how the car had been handled by previous owners would show up during that time and would be addressed under warranty.

Your mileage my vary, however...

Yes I still have factory warranty left. And I also purchased an extended warranty for 4/48 (cost me alot but I figured it was worth it). So the warranty should get me through 100000 miles, I don't ever keep a vehicle past that anyway. Thanks for the response. I am a little concerned about other problems creeping up, but they are being very thorough at the moment. I just wasn't sure if I should keep it with the problems fixed or not.

Since by far the most common major problem with these is the water pump and associated hoses and plastic tubing parts, and since you are getting all of this taken care of at no cost, I would say you are in very good shape and should be happy with your purchase, assuming no prior user abuse or hidden problems.

I agree completely, and, since you do have warranty coverage you should be well protected from costly repairs.

Enjoy the car!
