That is basically the same as what auto check said, no reported service history.

Carfax seems to be more detailed, but maybe this car does not have anything reported?

Unknown until I can see a carfax.

It would be neat to compare the same VIN on carfax vs auto check vs motosnoop

To clarify a bit, any Jag dealer can look up *warranty* history.....as those records are kept by corporate Jaguar and dealers have access to the data base. However, there is no common data base for non-warranty service and repairs. There's just Carfax or similar services...which not all dealers participate in/subscribe to.

Why doesn't your friend just pay the fee to Carfax to do the search? It's a small investment to have a bit of recourse if the vehicle isn't as described and reported.

Thanks...But all my routines per my Platinum contract was or is available online via their intranet...JNA also confirmed it was in their data base and yes, as well as warranty work...About Dealer to Dealer handshaking..I don't know.

Is the 'Platinum' contract affiliated with corporate Jaguar in some way? If so, the billing and reimbursement is channeled thru the corporate warranty submission system....thus they have a record of it.

But, if a customer drives into a Jag dealer and (let's say) has his brakes pads replaced and an oil change, and simply pays for the services outright, neither corporate Jaguar nor other Jag dealers will have any record of that transaction

Cheers

Yeah..I see what you're saying..Thanks for clearing that up...So back to the original question..other than off the wall service, scheduled routines such as oil changes, etc, are documented per the maintenance schedule..Kinda what I meant...No reason to start splitting hairs here.

This vehicle is not a Jaguar.

I have confirmed by running a motosnoop on a car that I have a current carfax for, motosnoop only does a title search. There is no service history (documented from dealer work or any other).

Motosnoop is very basic and carfax shows every service (dealer related).

No biggie, and carfax has gotten pricey. Used to run one VIN and it is like $10. Now 1 VIN is $40.
