Brake caliper springs

I replaced the front pads on my 2010 XF 5.0 N/A and they were fine for quite awhile and now they make a very loud squeaky noise at very low speed when applying the brakes. The rotors are in good shape and all metal to metal contacts were greased. I should mention the car has 55,000 miles. The caliper springs had some small tin or some other metal tabs on the very tips of the springs 2 on each spring installed on spring prior to me removing them that did not get re-installed and I’m thinking now as I should have then that these served some purpose like maybe stopping the brakes from making a very loud squeaking noise 😮 Does anyone happen to know what these little tabs are called or if they are for noise issues? I couldn’t find them in any diagram thank you

Those tabs on the anti rattle springs may dampen some but I don't think your squeal is due to them missing. Mine have been gone for some time now and I have absolutely NO brake noise. Brake squeal is usually a condition of the pad material and how the rotor is worn.
