Brake squeal when coming to stop anyone?
 

I was going to ask about it but I noticed even a loaner I had did same thing. I eventually asked shop foreman and he said there is some issue with a spring in brake mechanism htt causes it.

Anyone else have same experience?

I've noticed most factory jag brake pads tends to squeak and give off quite a bit of brake dust, although they stop very well. Brake dust was my big peeve as I was quite annoyed with having to clean the wheels so often, especially the front ones.

I switched to Akebono ceramic pads on my XKR, and this eliminated both the brake dust and squeak issue. They are really great, best pads I've used including Hawks, Posiquiets, and Raybestos.

What yr, the spring mod only can be done to 2010-2011. Otherwise its from polishing/glazing of the pads and rotors...driver useage issue. As an explanation. How is it that 2 differant drivers of the same car get differant results. One the brakes squeek, the other drivers usage don't. Same car same brakes. One uses the brakes, 1 brakes frequently, lightly, and in a way that tends to "polish" rotors and pads which creats alot of noise..... You can get relief from changing pads, but, sometimes it gets worse and sometimes goes away:)

Jaguar is suppose to come out with a brake pad carrier that is redesigned to address the brake squeal.

I use brake quiet from Raybestos.....a little on the back of each pad prior to install. Smear it smooth prior to install of pads into caliper. I use it on all six of my disc brake cars.

mine is 2011. would like to know what to suggest to dealer

there is a SSM special service message, that addresses this. They order the brake calipers springs for the front "R" brakes. They have little clips on the ends of the springs that are taken off and put onto yours to I assume increase tension and isolate transmitted noise. The rotors are cleaned, deglazed and same with pads. Then lube slides and backs of pads where they contacts calipers and pistons as useall.

Brake squeal almost always results from glazing and sharp edges on the pads from light braking. Assuming it isn't too bad one can sometimes clean up the pads and rotors by a series of very hard stops or near stops from highway speeds. I forgot to bed in the new rear pads properly on my audi s4 and am now trying this method of rectifying the squeal. It works often enough to be worth a go. Can be fun also on the right road.

My brakes squeal and rattle. Will be taking in in to the dealer soon as the rattle in the headliner is back again.
