Buying my first jaguar
Hi guys, new to the forums
I had a couple questions, im looking to buy a 2009 jaguar xf supercharged. It is a rebuilt and is offered at 10.8k$ Canadian. It has 140k km on it, and just had a full maintenance a week ago.
Just wondering what problems i can expect to see from this car in the first year or so and how much would i be estimated to spend on this car in the first year. With gas and repairs.
It is a v8 500hp.
Also is 10.8k$ a good price for the condition of the car right now, or should i offer a lower price.
Thanks

Rebuilt as in it was in an accident before and it has been fully repaired, also how much km will it go to if it is properly maintained? Considering it already has 140k on it

140K kilometers is about 87K miles for those of us in the US.
So I don't think anybody can say they have an expiration sticker in their Jag after which point (miles or years) it implodes. As with most cars, it depends on how it got to where it is now - was it abused, loved, maintained beyond the requirements ? Lots of short trips or gentle cruising on the highway?
As you may have gathered from recent posts (sorry Mark!) when things go wrong, they can get messy and expensive, even if you are doing your own wrenching, the parts bill is not going to be cheap. Factor in someone else doing the work and you need to either budget for it or look into a good external warranty. I recently had engine mounts and trans mount replaced and it cost me $100 deductible instead of $800. So I'm on my way to making up for my warranty cost and I'm still covered for three more years.
So if you want to avoid tears, you need to think beyond the test drive. It's hard but you have to do it. Not trying to put you off but trying the make sure the time out of the driving seat is as much fun as in it :-) And there is a lot of fun.

But the engines and transmissions of S-Types are very stout. Lots of people have reached near 200K mi with the 4.2l engine.
Just say'n

Unfortunately, this is a "How long is a piece of string" question. Cars that have hit something hard and have been repaired are statistically more likely to go wrong further down the line. Not everything that is slightly damaged, bent, etc. gets noticed or repaired. Not all parts get painted to original standard. Damaged but hidden paintwork goes unseen, only to rust much sooner than expected. If you are sure that the damage was light and repaired well, then OK. Otherwise, look for an original one, especially as you are asking about longevity - you seem to want to keep it for some time.
