Check fuel filler cap

I have just recently gotten the message to "check fuel filler cap" on my xf. I have checked it and it is on correctly but the message still stays.

Anyone else had this or heard of any similar problems?

I had the same problem with my XKR when I first got it.
the error light stayed on untill the next time I filled the tank, and restarted the car
a few times over the next 2 days, Then the error light just went away.

sometimes disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes helps.

Wasn't there some earlier discussion that some ofthe XF caps were faulty and didn't seal properly? (can't remember if it was here or another forum)..Maybe get a new cap and see if that is the fix, long term..

I've seen a few of these complaints, it was never the gas cap.

Take it to the dealer for further diagnosis.

Thanks.FYI - the dealer here has had me on hold for about 2 weeks now. Says there is a software upgrade to fix this type problem.Problem is in the sensor.

Gas Tank cap alert

I have a 2010 XF which is almost 4 yrs old and have had this problem appear. Dealer has tried to fix it 2 times. First time they replaced the cap, 2nd time they could not determine exact cause and just reset the alert. The problem has re-appeared in 2 days after the 2nd visit.

One thing I find problematic is that when an alert happens, it stays on the Dash and hides the clock. There is no way for the driver to acknowldege the alert and restore the normal display. This is a software fix/enhancement that can be easily done by Jaguar. It is very irritating to have that notice stay on for the entire time until the problem is resolved. I wonder if Jaguar has addressed this issue in later models.

I think if you push in on the Trip Button on the turn signal stalk, that will clear the alert.

Had the same problem. Only twist your cap 3 clicks. Have not had a issue since.
