Colour Code Mud flaps or not?
I just got my mud flaps delivered today. MY car is Lunar grey and the mud flaps are black. Shall I colour code the mud flaps or not? Which looks better? Any advice?

I am not a fan of mud flaps myself, but if I had to choose, I would have them colour coded. :icon_denk:

Mine are stock black and look fine to me. Bear in mind that colored mud flaps actually are more noticeable than black. Also, you have to use very flexible paint or they will look awful if it cracks and peels.

Why Mud Flaps?
I was not aware there is significant snow fall is Hong Kong or unpaved driving. Why are mud flaps required on a Jagaur? Even in Midwest, where snow fall is severe :icon_snowman:because snow comes from both the Arctic and also from gulf moisture, mud flaps are not common.

Anyway, I listened to Jagular and just had them fitted as is on black. It is quite flexible and quite likely to chip. The extra costs is not justified. Here in HK the labour is cheaper compared to other countries. I got them fitted for equivalent of GPB15 for front and rear:) I am quite happy with the results. Subtle in looks with Jaguar logo and does the job. Now what's my next addition? What do you think about the Adamesh rear valence? |
Mud flaps on the rear are a courtesy to other drivers in heavy rain. The front flaps also protect particularly the front doors from flying stones off the wheels.

My white XF get's filthy fast. Hoping the splash guards will tone this down a bunch.
I'd love to see some pics installed before I buy. Not a closeup mind you, but an overview or two. |
I would leave them black. As stated, color matching will actually be more noticed.
|
Paint them and you'll be looking at paint chips within a week and big splotches of black soon after that. They don't come painted for a reason.
|
I have never seen them on an XF can I get a pic please.

Here you go. But not sure you can see it? I need to use a proper camera instead of phone camera.
I decided to not colour code it and I think my decision is wise. It serves it's purpose. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/m...fmud-12534.jpg |
Non-coloured looks best, by a mile. Much less obvious, and subtle, and doesn't disturb the lines of the wheel arches.

Together with the weight of opinion here not to paint them for purely practical reasons, I think your decision to leave them black from an aesthetic perspective is appropriate. They look unobtrusive. Great car - great colour. Graham |
Today in the morning, I install mud flaps on my jag. Black on black looks great. I like it. I already got a compliment about my black jag.
