Thanks, I am adding this link into the FAQs
|
Thanks for all of the information. It seems that most of the changes are for the better. When some manufacturers update "refresh" they make a mess of things, not here. But, I am stating the obvious. When do these cars hit the showrooms? Where in Maryland are you?
|
the server does not allow me to view the PDF. Is there another way to check out the changes to 2012 XF?
Thanks! |
When will they release these cars in the US?
Any sense on what I should expect to pay for a well equipped supercharged or XFR? |
Also I didnt see any references to the new 8 speed ZF automatic transmission. Will those be available on the 2012 models?

heh, apparently I can't send you a PM either.
***EDIT*** As it turned out, I just needed 10 posts before it unlocked some priliveges. So, I was able to download the PDF - thank you very much for posting! |
Thanks! Certainly seems like a good idea to wait for the 2012 models. Any word on real time traffic information being available?
|
I actually prefer the look of the current headlights. They give the car more character - Jaguar character. The new lights look more generic, almost could be an Audi. Everything else is better on the 2012, as it should be, though there is nothing that I "have to have". Well, maybe the additional hard switches for the nav and phone. :icon_shrug:
|
I do agree about the headlights, specifically, I like the little circular line in the middle...a nice arc that gives it a little something...
|
By no means the 2012 XF is ugly, but I do prefer the design of the 1st-gen one. While the headlights are almost a non-issue for me (although, arguably the orignal's are better), the rear facelift (should we call it a butt-lift) is a total failure. I don't like the fake diffusers (XF S/C and XFR) and the lights seem too crowded somehow.
But worst of all is the new XFR...why, would they ruin a super-looking sports sedan like that? I mean the front end looks Korean car-like! The original XFR is probably my dream Jaguar at this point and I was really disappointed with the redesign. However, when you compare XF with the competition, it still stands head and shoulders above the rest, in terms of design, inside and out. I just wish they hadn't messed with the good thing so much, you know?! |

Take a look at the current Kia Optima. I happen to think that for its price bracket, it may be the best among its competitors. http://www.havalgroup.net/hm/wp-cont...llpaper_01.jpg I can see what you mean, however, when you look at the 2012 XFR's new headlights. http://www.cardotcom.com/photos/cars...r-xfr-01-m.jpg While we're at it, look at the Hyundai compared to the Mercedes. http://media.il.edmunds-media.com/hy..._32910_717.jpg http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/up...s-leaked_1.jpg |
BTW, visual comparison of front ends, 2012 vs. 2011.

The thing I like most about the XFRs new front end is the more vertical treatment and slight enlargement of the radiator grill; when viewed at side profile, I think its more appealing, aggressive, than prior years.

Thats it.. Can't take it anymore... Gone to get a 2012 in Kayanite Blue, Then I will do a face to face comparison with Need4Spd... LOL... All joke aside, I think we are just locked into the looks of the present car. As I remember, There where alot of Jag owners who really didn't care for the looks XF when it first shown in 2007. The problem which almost killed Jag is that they never changed over the years. Change can be good.. BTW, I'm not a fan of the new butt lift either but that IMHO...
I to may change my mind once I see it in the show room.. |
