Default Door Mirror Upgrade

Guys,
I have the early model XF with the mirror shown in the top photo. I would like to replace it with the mirror shown on the bottom photo, which was fitted to XFs from 2010 onwards. Am I able to fit it to mine?

Is this possible?

You can try it. Base might be the same. Not sure if the harness is the same. Later models have LED turn signal indicators.

I have never seen an XF mirror anything like the one shown in the first pic so I very much doubt it is an actual XF mirror.
But the second pic is definitely a genuine XF mirror.

You can find a fair few examples of XFs with the first mirror fitted by doing a Google image search for "2008 Jaguar XF":

Any progress on this?

I have an 08 and my neighbour a 10 plate so have been trying to see what the differences are.

Quick Google suggests the harness is the same but would the led cause canbus issues? I suspect it might be easier to just try it out!

Checking the wiring diagrams for a 2008 and 2012 XF, the mirror wiring seems to be the same (the blind spot module seems to have a subtle different wiring, but not to the mirror itself), so I'd guess this should work.

These Jag's don't really have the lamp failure detection like Audi so it probably won't care that its an LED instead.

I reckon give this a go.

Sounds like it might be a go-er in that case!

Will keep my eye out for a mirror assembly, currently seem to be £150-200 in the UK so not a cheap experiment and i need to slurce one with blind spot assist.

Will update if I make any progress

It's do-able, however, the LED in the new mirror is definitely going to throw bulb out warnings on your dash. You could install in-line transistors on the cable just in front of the plug to solve this, but not sure it will last long though.

Hilton, do you have a circuit diagram as to how the inline transistors would interface correctly with a mirror and the harness?
