First jag and already having problems
I was driving my car home from work and then suddenly it went into limited performance mode where if I would hit the accelerator my rpms wouldn’t go up and the car would just stay at the speed I was at and would not speed up at all. So I pulled on to the side of the road cut it off for a few seconds then cut it back on and it was gone. So I got home and then woke up the next morning to go and start my car and when I started it the car idled very rough and shook a lot and these warning popped up. Parking break fault, engine system fault, DSC not available. So I cleared all the warning and it went away and the car started to idle fine and everything was good so I tested it out and drive and right when I pulled out the car just went into this limp mode and slowed all the way down and I could only drive 10 mph.
Does anyone have any ideas what it might be please help me |

Multiple faults and error messages are often caused by a battery on it's way out.
Check to see if you still have the original battery, if you do in a 2009 car it's way past it's use by date and a new battery might fix your problems. |

+3 on testing or replacing the battery if it is still the original one.
It is also helpful when posting on a forum to include vehicle details such as MY, current kilometres/miles and engine size. You can add the information on your vehicle to your signature line so it is included with each post. |
Also, get the codes it threw and let us know.
If it was the battery there may be many of them. How do I add my vehicle specs so it showes up on every post. I’m doing this on my phone but I can tell you the specs. It’s a 2009 Jaguar XF with the 4.2 L V8 and it’s at the mechanic and he called me back today and said that he’s going to reset the throttle body cause he said that was causing the problem. I’ll let him know about the battery and to check to see if it’s the original one. Thanks for all the help you guys are giving me I appreciate it

I got the car back today and he reset the throttle body and he said something about the engine cpu might need to be replaced but he said I’m probably going to have to take it to the dealer and have them do it because he said he didn’t know if his computer could do it but I had the car and evething was good drove it from about 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm to when I got home and I didn’t drive it the whole 6 hours it stayed parked for about 3 hours and when it drive it Home wasn’t about 15 min drive home that right when I pulled it i got the same errors all over again. Very upset with this :(

Definitely check the battery properly.
Also check for any (power) drain - this is a bit awkward and needs doing properly so read up on it. The place you took the car doesn't sound too good BTW. |

I honestly think you need a better mechanic as the current one sounds like he is just guessing. Change the battery and if you start to get errors then read the codes. I'd also say a vacuum leak could be high on the list of possibilities. Swapping ECU's is probably going to make things worse....

I've removed one duplicate post from you and setup your forum Signature. From first starting reading your thread I thought 'failing battery' and you should have the codes read as others have already replied. I would worry about any mechanic who jumped immediately to thinking the 'engine cpu' may need to be replaced. This is the very last resort in a troubleshooting sequence and very few ever need go that far. If he doesn't ' know if his computer could do it', you can be certain it won't! I can't see the attachments. But if that's just a picture of the error on the center display that doesn't really mean much - it's mostly consumer info. You need a jag code reader to read all the engine codes that have been logged and either take that to an Indy who really knows jags or post it on here. But battery check is the place to start as random codes can appear when battery gets too low.

You can get someone to pull the codes but if I were you I’d buy one. I have the iCarSoft LR2. Works v well. Specific jag codes, clear faults, reset service indicator etc. about $140 I think.

That number of display messages suddenly appearing is making a failing battery even more likely but you've got to get the fault codes for effective troubleshooting.
