Default Floor mat hooks for 2011

Just bought a second 2011 XF Premium because I love my first one so much.

One of the few items that needs attention is a broken floor mat hook.

Does anyone know a good source for these?

I often wonder why some members are so reluctant to go to their Jaguar Dealer parts department. It's usually the first thing I do to ball park any parts cost so I know if alternative sources are better value or not. In many instances, especially with trim items, Jaguar is the only source.

By doing this, you would get a part number for the floor mat hook (carpet retainer) and a cost.

If it's you walk away with the right P/N to start looking elsewhere. If it's you save yourself a lot of time and trouble.

+1 Graham, first place I go to is the dealer parts department, but then again it is the only place I go to.

That was funny! We do feel like we can search the web and our collective knowledge base to find something better and cheaper Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But for some reason we can deal with the disappointment when it doesn't, and the money and time we wasted, for the chance that we can "cheat" the system.

Uh, because 9 times out of 10 the dealer experience is much worse so you come out way ahead. Dealers are much more expensive, useless parts counter people can't figure out how to use their systems, they often order the wrong part and make you wait a week before it shows up to find out they screwed up, etc...

Not sure which magical unicorn dealer you are using, but I have had more than my fair share of wasted time and money with them.

Maybe that's the key...I haven't had to order many parts and the parts guys are willing to get out of my way and let me pick out the part from the schematic. And I also don't go to the dealer for things I know I can order elsewhere. But for specialized stuff I just go there and get the part number and price (always Google and check ebay for part needed before ordering as well). Probably helps that my dealer is 10 min. away from my house so I can circle back pretty easily to order later if I don't find what I'm looking for on the web.

So that is the clip that holds the floor mats, or some type of part that holds down the carpets?

Looking on this diagram, the part is #10 and it doesn't really look to have the shape of a hook like the floor mat retainers, and they show it in an up and down orientation which isn't how the floor mat retainers look.

Front carpet retainer for 2009 Jaguar XF C2S39931 Confidently purchase online today.

Number 3 on my diagram is I believe what you're looking for. Jag number C2S39931. If you Google that number you'll probably come up with an actual picture.

Here's a pic of the hook in my car, if that helps.

When I look up that part number, I see everywhere that #10 part number from the diagram in my link above.

The stick drawings just don't look like this part.

Hi, did you buy the hook part? I just bought new mats to replace my original ones, but now the rear ones also have hooks for the rear mats. That's good, because they always shift around, except that my car doesn't have the hooks in the back. Assuming this is the correct part, how do I install it? Does it screw into place? I never looked carefully at how the front ones are installed.

Thanks.

I did find the part and installed it. You have to cut the carpet to mount these hooks. When you order the hooks, you'll be able to see how they work and how you have to cut the carpet.

I had to buy a couple for my new (to me) '13 XF Portfolio to replace ones in the rear. IIRC, they were $19.00 for a pair of them.

They weren't the same as the front ones in my XJ8 (which are attached through slots cut into the carpet); the ones for the XF seem to be the hook on one side, and a coarse plastic screw-ish body on the bottom. The instructions said to 1) place the mat in desired position, 2) mark through the grommet in the mat the underlying carpet, 3. pierce the carpet with a pick, and 4) screw the hook assembly into the carpet till tight.

I was loathe to actually try it, but, as it turned out, the PO had already had these installed, so, followed step 4 and it turns out that it does work reasonably well (the coarse plastic screw-ish doohickey on the bottom does grip the carpet enough to actually tighten the whole thing down onto the carpet.

I bought a couple sets Just In Case I needed replace another one down the road. The local Jag dealer (The Great Britians/Willow Grove PA Jaguar/Land Rover, no financial interest, etc) parts window was more than helpful and pleasant to deal with even though I did not buy the car there...and gave me a 10% discount on the entire purchase to boot (also bought the windshield sun screen, front rubber floor mats, trunk insert mat, etc).
