fuel rail pressure damper
There are a few posts about fuel rail dampers leaking. I've not checked with jag; but some posters say just the damper is not available and you have to buy the whole rail at about $1400 Which is also not available. The Jag part # is AJ83838 and crosses to ford part # 2W93-9F775-AA. I bought one from injector planet, By the time I got it to Oklahoma all in for about $60.
There are several posts about blocking the port and deleting the damper and the car runs fine. I don't have those welding skills though and didn't want the car to be down while I sent the rail off somewhere.
I depressurized the fuel rail by removing the middle relay in trunk fuse box. I found the fuel rail had to be removed to get the old damper off. The 5 or 6 locking tangs I bent back with a small pair of needle nose pliers. The new one I grease the "O" ring with Vaseline and snapped it into place. It took some firm pressure to push home with a pair of channel locks. I only pulled the rail with the leaking damper and left the other side alone, working on top of the engine when i got it out.
