Gap between windscreen and cowl/plenum

I’ve noticed that on the passenger side of the windscreen, there is a gap between the windscreen and the cowl. When I pour water down the windscreen I can see water run behind the cowl instead of over it. This is a video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNxdT1KH1Lg

Does anyone else have this issue?
Is this an issue that needs to be fixed due to water going into the wrong places?
Does the cowl need replacing?

Thanks in advance

The rubber bit on the cowl there is just for aerodynamics or more specifically, reduction of parasitic drag/wind noise reduction, it's not a big deal for the cost of replacement, just open the hood and ensure all the plastic push-pins are installed correctly. Also, the water going under it isn't important at all, really. it goes under the cowl, and then flows against the sides of the firewall and ultimately to ground if I recall. (Don't worry, It doesn't go inside the car!)

I had the same gap on my old XFS, it was fairly bad about 1.5 cm across at the widest point. Like you I was worried about where the water might be going so I cleaned out all the muck and rubbish as best I could then filled the gap with black silicone RTV windscreen sealant. Peace of mind and looked much better!

Take the cowl off completely and try to refit it. It looks like a poor fitting job. That cowl has to come off to work on any part of the engine bay up against the firewall so some yahoo probably didn't put it back on correctly.

Whatever you do, don't fill the whole thing up with black silicon. Jags deserve so much better than the Pontiac Sunfire treatment!

Thanks very much for the replies. I think I’ll get the mechanic to remove the cowl and clean underneath and try to refit before considering next steps.
