I've learned this isn't the place to go for immediate help, but I assume you've made sure the car's fully unlocked, maybe tried locking and unlocking the car a few times using the dash switch to try and free the fuel filler cap lock solenoid, as I assume the problem is that this isn't releasing. I'd also try spraying WD40 (or similar) all around the flap, sticking the straw in the gap, and try locking/unlocking again in the hope that some might lube up the solenoid.

If not, it's possible that there's a way of releasing the fuel flap from the inside but there isn't anything detailed in the manual, so I guess these sort of procedures I've seen described elsewhere are reserved for cars that have an electronic release (ours officially only has an electronic lock, and you manually unlatch it by pushing it inwards.

Definitely sounds like the lock solenoid either needs lubrication or replacement. Glad you got it sorted!

Same hassle initially with my 2010 XF. I then tried firm pressure on the flap about 2 inches from the edge. Works every time now

With doors unlocked & Solanoid clicking but not opening fuel door procede as follows - use a cut down tapered plastic putty spatula 2cm wide (tapered end) x 10cm approx length - force tapered end between cap & body along top edge which will put doorl under tension - now for the easy bit - press door botton on lower dash - with any luck fuel door will fly open - works on my 2003 xj8
