Just got my Mina exhaust in the mail today and...

Couldn't install them quick enough!

I know this has been a hot topic lately on here (mina exhaust) (group buys etc).

I just wanted to say that anyone who has reservations about buying them.. STOP what you're doing and BUY them. Wow. What a difference instantly! To say I'm very impressed is an understatement. That said I have had several exhausts.. Cat back, axle back, etc etc. For how easy this mod is.. It seriously IMO is a no brainer. I have a throatier rumble now, no popping, and sounds amazing. Truly a great product.

For reference I drive a 2011 xf premium (5.0l)

Got it for $750 incl shipping. Also he threw in a $25 credit for his shop.

Thanks for posting - I'm one of the people with reservations about it - so I really appreciate the post! Think I'll be next. Did you install yourself? How quick/easy was it?

JagVonder 02-05-2014 01:03 AM

Definitely could have installed. But would rather have a professional shop do it / have warranty on install etc. I literally googled muffler shops. Found one and they said $80 out the door... Fine with me took him about 55 mins as I was super picky about how they sat and he readjusted the hangers a little for perfect fit.

You won't be disappointed. Not too much but enough lower rumble that you know she's there.

I bought and installed the same exhaust on my 2012 XF Portfolio. Sounds great and is a high quality product.

Nice work, mine has actually mellowed out over time. It is not as loud as it was when I first had it installed. It is very deep but noticeably louder and more aggressive than stock. I +1 the no reservations but also +1 the professional installation. For mine to sit right the exhaust itself had to be cut and rewelded.

Schwabe 03-11-2014 06:04 PM

Interesting, mine definitely has gotten louder. My XFSC is at the end of the clip

Kudos to Mina again it seems.......:icon_toast:

Thanks for sharing guys

Here's mine right after the install:

I can also vouch that the exhaust "tones down" a little after a few months of driving. Love it nonetheless!

On my 2012 XF I didn't have to do anything but unbolt the old and bolt on the new. I didn't do it myself because of some of the previous comments. I watched the muffler shop and they took less than 40 minutes to perform the whole unbolt/bolt process. Looking back, I could have done it myself. Mina's fitment is quite superb. My son owns Dallas Performance (obviously in Dallas), custom fabricates twin turbos for Lambos, and even he was impressed.

That's good your piece was well fit but myself and others have had small to medium issues with fitment with Mina's exhaust. It's not a big deal but I would personally recommend a professional installation because of manufacturing variance you don't seem to know what you are going to get.

for you NA guys with the Mina exhaust, is it still quiet during normal driving, or do you get the droning sound that you get with most aftermarket exhausts?

Surprisingly no drone with mine. I have a 2011 xf 5.0l v8 fwiw

I love it. Best decision ever. Get it. Trust me. Not too loud. Just a nice little rumble back there.

neogod 03-14-2014 08:04 AM

cool, because i was thinking of getting it.

I have a 2012 XFR. I picked up the Minas personally as the shop is local to me. Went to their recommended muffler shop. The driver's side was problematic as there was a clearance issue. The shop had to bend some tabs out of the way and remove and reinstall hanger positions on the left muffler. There is a slight height variation on the left. It sits slightly higher and to the inside but it is hardly noticeable. I was worried about heat as my body color is white. But no issues yet and it has been a year. He shop did a great job and hid the bolt heads on the pipes so all you see is the pipes and the muffler. Looks great. Mina was also great to deal with and very nice staff.
The exhaust is great. Reminds me of my Porsche 928. The engine bursts into life when you start it and the blast is a head turner. It comes down afterwards as the idle levels out. The sound has mellowed out nicely. Probably takes 1000 - 1500 miles of driving to break them in. But there is more interior noise than before. Early on it was a drone but the character of the sound has changed and is more tolerable. But the cars character does change. It's more sports car. Not a quiet jag. But that's what I wanted.

RoswellJAG 03-14-2014 09:47 AM

My question is why they have such poor QC? Why the variations in fit? Is it Mina or Jaguar that has the variance issues?

Does your sons shop have a dyno for FWD vehicles? I'm looking to wet my X Type and I have been looking for a dyno to tune it.

I participated in the Growl Event this week, drove a XKR-S. That car is powerful!!! I had at tough time leaving the dealership, but they were nice and let me drive it around twice. I have a Lotus in mind for a pure sports car, but that GT would definitely be nice to have in the lineup.

Just so I don't hijack the thread....the mina exhaust does give an excellent tone to your Jag.

RayICS 03-14-2014 12:13 PM

Dallas Performance has the latest in-ground, load-balancing Dyno-Jet but it is not AWD. It will handle FWD or RWD but not AWD. He typically disconnects the drive shaft on AWD vehicles, like Lambos. Google Dallas Performance and it will come up as the first entry. If you like cool videos, here is his latest :

Back on this thread... I may have just lucked out with my Mina exhaust, because it did not require any bending or pipe expansion/shrinking and it lined up perfectly. I am a mechanical engineer and am extremely picky.

Customgtrs 03-16-2014 04:40 PM

Is it a waste to put the Mina exhaust on the v6?

texevora 05-11-2014 10:46 PM

Just installed my Mina exhaust today on my 13 XFR. I would echo ajmarton's comments above almost to a T. Took longer than i expected due to both pipes being slightly out of round upon initial install such that they wouldn't fit over the existing OEM pipe. Had to use a ball-peen hammer and mallett to get them round enough to slide in. My right side muffler sits a bit high and right, which I couldn't fix on my own. Will likely have to take it to a muffler shop to align it, as I'm not entirely comfortable with how close it is to the bumper plastic.

Sound-wise, the Mina is definitely louder than I expected. I was hoping for minimal increase in volume (vs stock) at idle, getting progressively louder/aggressive with more gas. I would say it's a good 75-100% louder at idle vs stock, but with the progressive increase I was looking for as well. I have not broken it in yet, so I'm hoping the minor drone that occurs with light throttle (call it 10-20%) goes away. Definitely trying to avoid the redneck Mustang idle sound, and this exhaust to me avoids that (but admittedly, not by much).

Overall, I like it, with minor points off for the fitment/install idiosyncrasies. I'd also prefer it be just a touch quieter at the lower end of throttle travel, but definitely an improvement over stock, which I could barely hear from the inside unless flooring it.
