Default Just purchased a 2012 XFR and….

Finally pulled the trigger on a blk/blk XFR demo with 4.5K miles. Drove the car back from SF to LA. It is clearly an awesome car - extremely capable, fast, precise, handles great, very stable, relatively quite and smooth. But, I noticed that rattles are a big part of this car, and I hate rattles…. The windows (or doors, not sure yet), the center area around the cup holders, the speaker on the dashboard. This is seriously annoying. Is the dealer able to fix these? Are any of you experiencing excessive rattles?

Also something strange: My left muffler seems to sit about half an inch lower than the right muffler. Not sure what's that about - if that is how it left the factory (quality control issues) or if something happened previously. It apparently was driven by an exec for a year.

I's appreciate any feedback!

Congratulations. I don't have any rattles on my '11 SC, but a few have had door or sunroof rattles. Post a few photos!

I have the same 2 issues you mentioned. The dealership has been working hard to resolve the rattle issues!

The driver side muffler is also slightly off compared to the passenger side. Not a big issue for me.

Enjoy!

Have you brought the muffler issue up with your dealer? What's the solution?

Looks like were were at the same dealer on the same day. We purchased a black 2012 XF with Ivory interior. It had 700 miles on it and no rattles in the car, same as no rattles in our 2012 XJL or the 2008 XK that I just sold. Been extremely happy with the reliabilities of our last 3 Jags.

Funny that you came to SF from LA. I usually do the opposite when purchasing cars as LA seems to have much more choices.

Good luck with yours,

Albert

Thanks Albert. There were no demos left in LA except for a red one that I think participated in the jag drive events as bits of it were resprayed and the seat was really smashed for 2400 miles car. The one is SF was very clean apart for the issues above. I made an appointment for Monday and to my surprise got a loaner right away (with BMW you need 2 weeks in advance for a loaner). The service guy also told me the the shop foreman will drive with me to detect the rattles. Good indicator that I should have a pleasant service experience...

Mine had no rattles, but after reading the TSB on a rattle around the sunroof, I went to my car and started pressing on the headliner around the sunroof. It made all kinds of creaking sounds. I took it to my dealer with a copy of the TSB and they replaced a few redesigned clips, a foam pad and it doesn't make any noise when pressing on the headliner. I did this because it was just a matter of time that it would start making the creaking noise on its own. And most likely at the beginning of a road trip and it would annoy me to no end until I could get it back to the dealer. This way I did it at my leisure when I had the time to do it.

British Motors on Van Ness. They still have a silver demo left. Incidentally they also have a white black pack pre owned 2012 for a much higher price, maybe due to the fact that it is certified. I saw it and it is stunning.
