Looking at a 2012 XF Portfolio

I may be a Jag man again soon. I'm looking at a Jag XF Portfolio with about 98K km's (61K miles). Are there any issues I should look out for?

Thanks for any and all help

Cheers :)

I sold my 2012 XF Portfolio with 87k miles on it. Only thing I had to get fixed was a failed TPMS sensor. Given the age, look into changing the waterpump and the plastics around it. The modern Jags are much more reliable than the German counterparts IMO.

Thanks - I had done some research and I did ask about the water pump.- haven't had a reply yet.

Cheers

I bought one last March—2012 XF Portfolio and I love the car. Check for coolant leak or signs of previous leaks. Check the boot/trunk auto close, locking, unlocking using key fob and button release from inside vehicle.

Check all doors lock and keyless unlock. One of my doors never locked replaced lock. Check window up and down smoothly , window regulator changed due to noises. Check if fuel filler neck replaced with newer one - old one had a piece brake in it but didn’t fall in the tank luckily trapped in the neck. Check wheel for curb rash, wheels bend easily and are sensitive for vibration in my experience. Could get the bends fixed which is what I did. water pump as someone mentioned , had mine replace as part of troubleshooting another issue.

Had my belt tensioner replaced, was causing vibration in steering wheel on idle.

Make sure oil changed regularly , heard these engines can develop sludge.

I don’t really think there’s anything major overall a good car and I felt like I was unlucky at first but got everything fixed and no mechanical issues for a year now knock on wood.

love the v8

Have had mine 7 years (oh, my!), 44K miles, and would consider trading, only I can't find a car I like better.
At one year, dealer replaced the water pump (because it was a "known problem"), replaced the instrument control module (because the sounds from the audible warning sounds stopped), and replaced the rear cross bar (because I ran over a dead deer - had to pay for that).
Replaced the battery at 4 years as a preventative.
Updated the NAV maps a couple of times - that was pricey.
I hope I don't jinx something by saying NO other problems.

Why update the nav maps, don’t you have a smart phone?

Even I would trade mine in but don’t know what to get next because there’s nothing at the price point that comes close to as good as this car in my opinion.

hen555 - agree, I like the looks better than the newer models both outside and inside. And driving 5K/year or less doesn't give me much justification to trade. I have thought about the Sportbrake, but the local dealer, as well a larger one in the next city, have sold zero so far. Local dealer had one for quite a whjile, then said they sold it "out of the area", which probably means they traded it for something else they wanted. I sat in it when they had it, didn't take the time to drive it; thought the interior was pretty unattractive.
No smartphone, I retired over 20 years ago and spend too much time on the computer without one. Besides the NAV, I also like the CD changer - I still buy CD's, and the car is about the only place I listen to them.
Glad to hear from someone else who likes their Portfolio.
