I think XF model overall looks more or less the same thru various model years. While XF 250 and XF 260 versions model changes are visible but as drastic as other European counterparts

Even folks who are not into cars can easily see the differences for BMW, Audi and , Mercedes models where as in my opinion exterior differences between a 2012 XF vs 2019 XE is not that much

It seemed to me a bit odd that with the switch over from a steel body to all aluminum they wouldn't have taken the opportunity to make more radical changes. Especially since the X250 was one of the earlier fastback sedans and by 2016, nearly every sedan had adopted a fastback roof line. Now even the Accord has gone that way. They could have started a new design trend with the X260 and set Jaguar apart again but they played it quite conservative. We know how to tell them apart, but the average person can't tell them apart from a Lexus.

I still think Jaguar ought to go "retro" with their next generations. Its been quite successful for other cars like the Mini, Fiat 500, Mustang, Challenger, and we can laugh but Chrysler sold millions of PT Cruisers even tho it was an absolute piece of crap (I know as I rented one once). I don't know about worldwide, but locally I see at least two dozen S-types for every XF and at least fifty x308s for every x351. And tho they're mostly gone now, Jaguar sold more sedans in the US back when the Series 3 had a horrendous reputation for poor reliability and high repair costs. People bought them for their unique styling even despite being possessed by the Prince of Darkness. I figure if it worked for Chrysler to bring back a 1930s design, it ought to be a windfall for Jaguar to design something new based on the stellar designs in their past. But that's just me, longing to get at least one "Hey, nice car." I kind of miss that about the old x308 but I guess the X250 is just too ordinary for anyone to notice.

 

I think not having too much exterior changes for newer model is in a way good for folks with older cars as your car gets easily blended in and is not considered old Unless you are really into Jags, one cannot easily identify a 2012 XF with the latest XE....where as an older BMW or Audi is easily recognized from newer model

It's one of the reasons I still have both my 2011 XF's. I throw up a little bit every time I see an older Audi, Merc, or BMW. All models of the XF still looks fresh.

 

In my opinion, if you can keep your older XF V8 up and running, its great value for the money.

Looks are not outdated compared to newer XF's,
V8 sounds great especially with after markets exhausts like Mina)
Gets exclusivity like AMG, BMW M, Audi S counterparts
