Problem with Touch Screen (keep restarting, can't get past the Jaguar screen)

Hi all,

I would appreciate it very much if any of you can help me with this problem I'm having with the touch screen.

The touch screen can't get past the Starting Screen (screen with the Jaguar logo). It gets there, then off, then restart again, then off again.

A couple of days ago, the screen was working fine, then I noticed it slowed down, but it was still able to get to the Home Screen (the main screen with all the buttons) and all the buttons on screen works fine. Then it kept restarting, at first it was able to get to the Home Screen for a bit before restarting. After a day, it was only able to get to the Starting Screen before restarting. Now it was just on and off at the Starting Screen.

I'm unable to use the radio. A/C still works fine. However, I notice that the AC will turn off and then on again after being used for about 45 mins.

I have checked all the relevant fuses. They are all fine. Once I removed the fuse for the touchscreen, the touch screen stopped working completely. When I put it back on, the problem was still there. I have recharged the battery and even took it off then put it on again, the problem still persists.

Maybe it is the Alternator? The touchscreen couldn't get enough power to run and get to the home screen? The audio system can't play due to the lack of power? (although I think the touchscreen controls the audio system, so if the touch screen doesn't work, so goes the audio). The A/C restarts after 45 mins or so due to the same reason?

Thank you very much for your help, any idea is appreciated.

Richard

I'd get the battery load tested. If the battery is fairly old, I'd replace it. If the problem persists, then you can start looking at other potential causes.

I think the battery is fine. I had even hooked it up with a battery charger for 30 mins. Then turned on the car, the problem was still there.

It probably isn't this but it might be worth testing anyway - I had a problem with my touchscreen crashing when a particular USB stick was in the car. I wasn't sure whether it was a file on it or the stick itself, but it would lock up and crash then restart. Once I changed the USB it was fine.

I have tried using a different USB and no USB at all. Nothing worked.

What about your iphone or iPod.... Certain files will cause a crash.

Bluetooth Module Compatibility

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if bluetooth modules with a different last digit are compatible? I have a 2009 Jaguar XF and the bluetooth module had a crack in it. Looks like one of the chips fried from water in the housing. The part number for the one I removed from the vehicles is 7G9N-10D893-AF and the one the wreckers have is 7G9N-10D893-AE. Funny enough the dealership said the module part number I need is AG. Haven't been able to find any information on it, can anyone shed some light?

Thought I'd share these location and removal diagrams in case someone else runs into this. I've ordered the following P/N, the number is a common Ford part num, the one I have on the way is from an XC-70...will see how it goes.

7G9N-10D893-AG

Success with used unit

Popped the four bolts off the seat, removed sill and pulled carpet up. Far less effort than I expected. No water whatsoever.

All pictures are of the original but the replacement was identical part number. Thanks.

Popped open the old box, no obvious cause of the failure.

Did the replacement bluetooth module fix your screen problem? Curious as it does not appear water damaged as has been the case with others. I'm wondering if it could be damaged fibreoptic cables or dirty FO connections?
