Supercharger replacement

37k miles seems really low for this; I recommend changing the oil every 30k, but 37k is NOTHING for miles on a modern supercharger. I have 3 supercharged Jaguars; my 2000 XKR has 110k miles and a dead silent original unit, my 98 XJR needed a rebuild due to lack of maintenance at 90k, and my 07 XKR has 55k and is dead silent. FYI - All of those are miles not kilometers.
Also, consider having this moved by a moderator to the XF forum as they will be more experienced with the nuances of your car .

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X250 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.
It's not "normal" to be replacing superchargers but an "outrageous sum" is not unusual.
I recall in previous posts back in 2014 you were searching for an independent to maintain the vehicle when it was new. Some history and details of the reason for the recommended supercharger replacement would therefore be relevant.

It definitely sounds like you need to take it and get a second opinion on the issue. These super chargers do have a known issue of the coupler bearing going bad, but will almost never cause failure of the whole unit. With having the low miles on it as you do I would assume* that would be all that is wrong with it. It is possible to replace the needle bearings in them for going bad, however this is not a very common issue. As previously mentioned the kits can be had online for around $150-250 depending on what all is included. I recently rebuilt the entire supercharger on mine and by far the most expensive price of the job would be labor. It took me a total of around 18 hours to do the following repairs on mine. Spark plugs, clean intake valves, rear crossover pipe, rebuild supercharger, and oil cooler gasket.
