Tire Suggestions for a 2012 XF Superchrged
 

Hey Guys,

My tires are due to be replaced. I was wondering if you had suggestions on what tire to get. I stay in Columbia, South Carolina and don't see any snow. I would like to get something that will help me enjoy the car.

I had Bridgestone Potenza S04 on my 2010 XFR and was very happy with them. Would have liked Michelin Pilot Super Sports but they were hard to find in the XFR sizes. I'm in Texas so snow never was an issue either ;-)

Going with the new Michelin PS4S. The PSS is an awesome tire and I had those on my 2011. I especially like the bead, which saved my rims from many a scrape against curbs. I am hoping the new PS4S will have the same bead on it.

Seems as though Michelin tires are the way to go. On Tire Rack, I see the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ or the PS4S. Does it matter which one to take?

For dedicated summer tires, I love the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my XFR. Had Conti DWS (dry wet snow) on my last XF Supercharged and they were solid, but the Pilots are markedly better in the summer when dry or wet (the wet performace suprised me). Heard the Conti DW (dry wet) are excellent too for summer tires, but I have no direct experience with those.

I had a conversation with the guys at Tire Rack. They suggested that although I don't see any snow, it may be wise to look at Michelin A/S 3+ instead of the Super Sport as these tires will last longer. Is this true?

Kumho PS91 if you want MPSS for half the price.

I bought 3 season tires (because they were significantly cheaper than the stock Pirellis and I was tired of paying through the nose for them) and had issues with cupping on the fronts. Went back to summer tires and had no further problems - but I don't drive my cars when it's snowy or icy here in Kansas City. That's what pickups and SUVs are for!

Many good tires ( Michelin, Bridgestone, Kumho, Hankook). They are all better than Pirelli which I would absolutely avoid.

I have Hankook evo's on my XFR and not in love. They wear out and rear tires don't stay on the road!

Eventually settled on the Michelin A/S 3+. The tires only come with a 30,000 mile warranty (sigh!) but I'm planning to schedule a drive in the next couple of weeks to the Tail of the Dragon to really enjoy the tires. Thank you guys for all your suggestions and comments!

Probably a real good choice. I would be interested in your feedback after the dragon run.

An update!
 

I didn't make it to the Tail but I did drive to Washington DC and back last week. The tires brought the car to life! The car feels brand new again! The ride is very slightly harsher but I guess that's the price to pay for better handling. I haven't enjoyed the Jag as much as I did on the drive to DC. Definitely recommend these tires to anyone looking at upgrading :icon_beerchug:
