Default What is this hose trivia question?

This hose went on me last week. The small section that attaches to the nipple was missing and can't seem to find a place for it to go. So I just capped it off. Does anybody know what this little bypass hose is for? Thanks

2010 XFR...

This would be the lower one. Pictured antifreeze is just pouring out of it and I also have another nipple that attaches to nothing by the throttle body. Not sure what that's for either

Looks like you have the new Pipe.

Item 7 is the same grey type Y piece, but one leg is blocked sealed internally from new. So it is just a two way fitting, which looks like a 3 way, but one leg is sealed off.
Then the lower pipe item 3 ? IS that an item 5 shoe horned into position where item 3 should be?

Thermostat housing to CW pump?

What with all the jubilee clips?

Item 3 should look like this, no nipple? C2Z22073

Thanks for that. The dealer tried to sell me the hose without the nipple and I told him it was the wrong one. It's probably just a redesign and you don't use that anymore. Hence since I blocked it off it's basically the same thing LOL. It must have have been plugged previously and it blew off and I spewed all the coolant out?!

At the end of the day, You should have a item 5 and an item 3 installed. Looking at the photos you don't.

Your item 3 is the issue, as it is an item 5 installed there by the looks of things.

Look at the drawing again, to what you have installed.

A brass nipple would be better to the water pump, just saying.

From what I can see item 5 is there. If you look carefully, the little bypass hose goes to the pump into a fitting from item 5... thanks!

I did look carefully!

If you look at the second circle you drew, it shows a second nipple where no nipple ought to be. The item 3? (no nipple) which you seem to have replaced with another item 5

Guy! please feel free to step in here.

See post no.3

There should not be a nipple there on the item 3. Where the CW is pouring out.

Judging by the clamps and nipple, this is an item 5 pipe.( Another one). Where is the original item 3.(no nipple) pipe.
Which would also help stopping the water pouring out.

Yeah, that redesign really makes it difficult to figure it out. I just capped it off and all is good!

You are taking a risk, in the plug blowing off, and losing all the CW, with the well known water loss consequences on the AJ133S engine.

Why not fitted correct hose Item 3 should look like this, no nipple? C2Z22073. and while in there check the thermostat housing cover, for leaks.

You choice of course, and consequences!

Yes I totally agree. I will do it at some point in the near future. The way I rigged it. It will never come off though, but I still prefer to do it correctly. Thanks!
