Default Will not Rev Past 4k RPM?? 2012 XFR

Everytime I try to Rev the Engine it will not go past 4000 RPM why is that? On my 2009 XKR I can rev it further then 4000 RPM and it sounds wonderful! But why does the XFR not do that?

Does this only happen in neutral? Does it rev past 4k when you are driving?

Yes Only when the car is in Neutral. But when driving it can go pat 4k rpm. I even pushed the Flag Button down and tried it again and it still will not go past 4k rpm range.

Mine is the same way. I assume this is a programming safeguard to protect the motor from overrevving.

There are two safeguards to protect engine and transmission:

1. revs are limited in Neutral
2. Reverse cannot be selected above 7mph (3mph on some models)

This allows anyone to floor the throttle in Neutral or select Reverse at maximum forward speed without destroying the powertrain.

Thank you for the information Graham, I suppose it is for the best of the car, but I would like to be able to Rev past 4k RPM at times.
