XF Headlight bulb stuck
 

I have a 2015 Jaguar XF Luxury 2.2D (UK) and the passenger side Xenon headlight bulb has gone. Sods law it's the side hidden behind the air filter box. So I removed the box and intake, as well as the twist off lid over the bulb housing. So far so good. But I can't get the bulb and its mount off and out of the headlight unit. I tried what should have been a quarter twist counter-clockwise but its not budging. I phoned the local Jag dealership who said there's nothing else I should be doing. They agreed that a simple left twist then pull should be it. Interestingly, I tried the driver's side one as well, and that doesn't budge either.
Anyone had the same issue?
How did you fix it?

If they are anything like the HIDs on my F-Type (which are quite different to those I had on the XFS and XFR) then you don't twist the bulb or the igniter on the back of it (the rectangular metal box), instead you twist the black locking collar on the back of the igniter.

Thanks for reply. I wondered that myself. I can see the part you mean but can't get fingers that far in. Also, when I phoned and spoke to someone at Jag Service Dept I asked that question, and they said no - just twist the metal box???

If you can't get your fingers in there then maybe a pair of angled needle-nosed pliers will do the trick. One of the handiest tools in my extensive toolkit.
Or else just remove the light assemblies from the car, doable but not easy on the "facelift" XF as you need to drop the front bumper to access the third bolt.

Yeah - so you think its the black plastic collar I can see in there that I should twist?

Yep, the collars for sure.
My XFS and XFR didn't have any such collars (and they used D1S globes) but my F-Type has the collars and it uses D3S globes, same as the facelift XF.
