Default XF-R Sport Limited Edition 1/100

Heh guys

Just saw this advertised at my local dealer:

Special Offers - Pacific Jaguar, Maroochydore, QLD

Advertising an XF-R sport 3.0L Supercharged V6 Petrol for about $85K. Apparently it is an Australian limited edition of 100.

I am a bit confused.

If you look at the price calculator an XF-R sport doesnt come with 6 cylinders...but V8 :

https://jaguar.webqem.com/driveaway/#?range=XF

Which is correct?

Apparently they are both 2015 Year of manufacture.

Does anybody know what the go is here?

Is this a good price for Oz?

cheers

Two different models, XF R-Sport (4 or 6 cylinder) and XFR (V8).
Some think that Jaguar cheapened or diluted the R range, which previously was reserved for the top performance models, by introducing the R-Sport model.

Also, where the ad says "from $84,990", that is for the 2.0 litre turbo petrol, and the 3.0 litre supercharged V6 would be significantly more.

I agree, they are creating a lot of confusion calling it a XF R-Sport. They shouldn't have used "R". Any other letter would have reduced confusion.

cheers guys, yes I thought the $85k seemed too good to be true for the V6 and yes I thought the XF-R Sport was the XF-RS!

Man.... who is in charge of advertising in Jaguar?

BMW does kind of the same thing with "M" vs. "M-Sport". It's probably just a trim package like the BMW MSports

And they are all the 'old' XF, we probably won't see the new XF in Oz until a year from now.

Caddy did the same thing with the CTS-V sport. I was very confused when my cousin bought one but they where still selling the CTS V with the old body style. The "V" was set aside for the performance brand, now its a body trim with a few extra performance parts like brakes and seats but no high end motor, IE "Sport".

The V-Sport is actually kind of cool. It kinds of falls in-line with the Audi S6 where it's actually pretty sporty. 440hp is nothing to sneeze at. It's actually something in-between the regular car and the V, and not just a trim package to get extra money. I wouldn't buy one, but I do like what they did with it. It looks like Jaguar is trying the same thing, as they probably should, but instead of confusing everyone, they should've just used the S' badge for this midgrade and the R badge for the ultimate instead of changing their minds with every car. Stick to one plan Jaguar.

Oh no no no no....but strangely Jaguar advertised the XF-RS as limited "100 units only" edition in 2013 and now here it is 2015 and they're still pumping the RS...sigh...
