XF-RS have you done a dyno run
 
Hey peeps

Have not been on here for a long time

Been enjoying my purchase a little too much

Has anybody put their XF-RS on a dyno and if so what readings did you get

I've done mine recently and not sure but feel a little deflated by it. Not the figures that I was expecting. Would love to hear other stats

Why not post your results?

What gear did you run in?

What type of dyno?

Is the car 100% stock?

My XFR-S made:
  1. 500whp and 467 wtq - Stock
  2. 540whp and 504 wtq - with upper Velocity pulley, Mina Intake, K&N drop in filters and Rica tune
  3. 570whp and 545wtq - with lower pulley added to the above configuration
All of the above were in 4th Gear (out of 8)

Eventually started running in 5th gear, and the results were:
  1. #3 from above, ended up recording: 570whp and 584wtq
  2. Finally went with the configuration that is shown in my signature, so upper and lower pulleys, K&N drop in filter, Mina Intake Pipe, Velocity Custom Stage 2 Tune, High Flow CATS, and QuickSilver Exhaust, ended up with: 590whp and 581wtq (I have attached this final dyno sheet, same hardware setup, but three different tunes).

Ahmad, why did you change to 5th gear from 4th? Wouldn't that change all the dyno's calculations for hp/torque? Or at least invalidate any comparison from base to latest mods? Are you just under 1:1 in one gear and just over in the other? Or did you have wheel spin on the roller?

I think the change was due to wheel slip, and the only thing that changed was the torque value. I believe both 4th and 5th are slightly lower than 1:1 ratios with 5th being closer to a true 1:1 ratio. The runs were done on the same day and the only thing that changed was the wheel torque, wheel horsepower remained the same, which would explain the wheel slip (closer to peak torque). I'm sure there would be a slight difference, but it wouldn't completely invalidate comparisons. If the plots were HP & TQ vs Speed then yes, but since HP & TQ are plotted against engine RPM, then graphs should be very comparable...

My car is still under warranty as well (at least in my mind it is)... and I can see why the results are a little underwhelming... mainly on the torque front, I think the HP is within the general vicinity of close to stock 524 vs 542... It looks like the dyno operator took his time rolling into full throttle, and this may have had an impact on torque. You don't develop peak torque to 4980rpm. 632.8 Nm is the same as~467 lb-ft. Stock the torque is claimed to be 502 lb-ft @ 2500rpm

Are you sure about 4th or 5th gear?
I thought you want to dyno the car in a 1:1 ratio if possible?
The 8 Speed ZF has 6th as the 1:1 gear ratio.

Here are the two different sets of gears available for the ZF.

I was hoping to dyno my car (2014 XJR) in the future and was going to paddle shift it into 6th for the dyno run?

You can ask your dyno operator, and see what he comes up with.

Its no surprise that I in Canada, that the dyno operator/ owner ran my car in 4th, and the fellow that started this thread who is from the UK had his car run in 4th. Most dyno operators will try to target a 1:1 ratio but they also dont want to do a pull that will last very long. In 5th gear from when he roles into throttle till he lets off before 6500rpm there is a good 12-13 seconds, I dont know if you would want to run in 6th gear as your run will be even longer, and much higher speed. I remember a tuner once telling me you dont want to be full throttle (on high HP cars) for more than 10 seconds on a dyno (especially if you are doing repeated runs), you'll never get the same air flow as you would on the open road.

You can run it however you want... just my thoughts

Are you happy with your eurotoys experience? I plan on doing the lower pulley kit and tune for my 2010 xfr with the mina intake already and a x pipe
