2012 XJ-L vin SAJWA2GB1CLV30086

That's the VIN for the XJ-L that we lost in a crash, last July. I've never dealt with a "total loss" like that, in the past, and was curious what would happen to the car. So, like any other good "internet surfer", I "Googled" the VIN, a few times, and eventually found the car in a salvage lot, in Boston, MA. It sat there for several weeks, then was bought by a used car dealership in Brooklyn, NY, that specializes in "damaged" cars.

Our poor baby sat there until a couple of weeks ago, when I saw that it was sold. By any chance, did anyone on this forum buy it, with the hopes of fixing it??

Did that Brooklyn dealer advertise it for sale with a salvage title? Do you have a link to their website?

I think I just answered my own question. It looks like Affordable Motors of Brooklyn. They sell unrepaired cars that appear to be totalled by insurance companies that they buy at auction. AFFORDABLE MOTORS OF BROOKLYN INC - Used Cars - BROOKLYN NY Dealer Some high-end stuff on their lot.

Their business would make an interesting reality TV show "Flip This Wreck".

Yeah, Stuart, that's the place, and yes, they at least disclosed the salvage title......

FWIW, here's the deal. My wife was stopped for a traffic light, and the car coming up behind her didn't stop. She got drilled in the rear, and pushed into the car in front of her, so our poor baby got mashed at both ends. However, Affordable, in their ad for the car, downplayed the rear damage, saying only that the car needed a new rear bumper, and described the majority of the damage as "front end repairs". Funny, though, that the parts bill for the car added up to $21,000. That's a lot more than a couple of bumpers!!!
