2012 XJL Portfolio trunk issues

Hi

I just replaced the main battery and everything is working fine with the exception of the trunk. It opens with a push of the trunk button but it does not close. Is the related to the replacement of the battery? What should I do?

Hi William: may I ask if the new battery you purchased is the same as the original one? I'm asking because last evening
my vehicle would not start and I had to get a jump from AAA. Now I'm going to begin looking at batteries. Thanks.

Just checking, you are pressing the close button on the inside of the trunk not the open button on the bumper cover or the keyfob? You can only power close using the button in the trunk.

You can set a maximum lid opening height by manually moving/stopping the lid in the desired position and holding the close button for 10 seconds. I don't think there is any calibration for the close though. All I can find is this note:

If the battery is disconnected when the luggage compartment lid is closed, the stored and calibrated lid opening heights will remain stored when the battery is reconnected. However if power supply to the luggage compartment lid module is disconnected when the luggage compartment lid is open the system will not recognize the lid’s position and subsequently will not function to any switch commands when power is reinstated. To re-calibrate the system, the luggage compartment lid must be moved manually to the closed position where it will perform a soft close and reset the hall sensor counters to zero.
Normally after replacing a battery you only need to recalibrate the one-touch window closing, manually close the trunk the first time, and recalibrate the battery monitor module on the positive terminal clamp (which will recalibrate over a few days anyway so although you may get premature low battery warnings on the instrument cluster it isn't critical). I've never had to do anything else when working on my 2010 X351, and the 2012 should be identical in that respect.

Funny question, unless someone is in the boot/trunk, how can you disconnect the battery with the lid closed?

All I can think off would be a blown fuse - either the 20A that powers the dedicated powered lid module or a blown mega fuse (at 250A that would definitely leave a mark!)
