2014 XJL 3.0 V6 Turns off ROUGH
Hi team
My 2014 Jag XJL has 26,000 miles. Runs great, however; Is it normal for this LUXURIOUS car's V6 engine to turn off rough, vibrating the passenger cabin and make a 'clacking' sound when you turn the engine off???
I posted this video at the link below, hope this is normal, I use high OCTANE GAS, and Jag recommended CASTROL engine oil.

I have no idea why it does this, but I can commiserate with you. The engine in my '13 does the same thing. The service advisor does not seem concerned about it, so I have gotten used to it somewhat. However, the same engine in my wife's F-Pace shuts down very smoothly. I hope someone posts who has experienced this and had it resolved.

I bought it CPO @ 27,000 miles, and it now has 42,000. The sound and shudder has been there since purchase, getting no worse over 2 years. There was a supercharger "spring kit" installed at purchase but it made minimal difference. I don't worry about it, BUT if there is a fix, I'd like to know!

Just checked this 2014 xjl V8 RWD. When you shut the engine off, it aldo makes that strange \"clacking" sound, as if something mechanical is "crashing" inside the engine. Same as my 3.0 V6, so it appears this is "normal". Some input as to why Jaguar made it do "unrefined", or if it will "wear out" any internal engine parts as the milages add up.

I did find a video someone posted with a similar sound (Jaguar v6) and he found it was the ac compressor clutch going out. The dealership I'm working with says the ac clutch is fine so I'm on the hunt for other reasons as to why it makes that noise when shutting off. Almost a chug sound like it shut off then has another chug left before turning off.

Well it's common on SC engines but it is NOT normal.
The good thing is even with the SC snout clacking we have not seen any deeper problems caused by it.
We did see one car that the spring ate into the center steel shaft so I went with a complete snout instead of the lesser repair of just the coupler.
Mine is making the clack sound a little bit when I turn the engine off but when turned by hand it is very obvious where the noise is coming from.
Just remove the SC belt as posted above and in seconds you can tell if your snout/coupler is bad.

My 2014 XJ 3 liter V6 RWD with 35K miles shuts off with what I call a little run on. I bought it with 22K miles CPO 2 years ago and it has always shut off that way. I don't have any clacking or anything I would consider abnormal. My mechanic has never indicated anything abnormal with the way the engine shuts off.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but thought I could shed light on this. Spoke to my tech at work about this issue, he said it is the snout. Will need at least a coupler, and maybe a snout if left "shutoff clacking" for some time. That clacking on shutoff is your supercharger rocking back and forth a few degrees in either direction, and the looser the spring gets, the more it rocks. I just got a XJLR, and tried to do as much homework as I could before buying.

My Xj shakes on shutdown as well and the dealer thought it was normal. It originally made noise from the supercharger coupler(clacking) and the belly pans(rattle and thumping). The coupler was replaced under warranty and I secured the belly pans...some bolts were missing. It is quiet now but still rough. Something wrong with the design of the shutdown sequence I think.
