I am in the process of ordering the XJ rear trunklid spoiler (R TYPE OPTION) for my new car. Does anyone know how it is attached? Is it double sided tape, or is drilling involved?

 

I ordered mine from Mina Gallery (painted) but it hasn't arrived yet. It's a replica of the OEM part and attaches with double-sided tape, no drilling. I'll post my comments and pix after I install it.

 

if you ordered the spoiler why not look into ordering the front splitter?

I presume you're asking me, since I already ordered mine from Mina Gallery and niceguy753 hasn't ordered his yet.

I don't want the front splitter - it's too easy to damage. Also, Mina Gallery doesn't offer it as an aftermarket replica. Even if they did, I'd pass on it.

Note that according to the Jaguar Accessories catalog, the OEM rear spoiler and front splitter must be ordered together. See: http://accessories.jaguar.com/gl/en/xj/exterior/exterior-styling/c2d26935lml-aero-splitter-decklid-spoiler I don't know the cost, and am not sure if that still the case. When you're ordering a new XJ, the spoiler and splitter are part of the $7,800 Sport & Speed Pack.

You are correct and my XJ is so equipped. That along with the blacked out grills and red calipers really sets off my XJ and since I've had my car up to 165 it seems to aid in keeping the Cat glued to the road and a feel of confident controllability.

I have the mina gallery spoiler for sale in anyone is looking lmk. Bought from Mina a few weeks ago and it's still Brand new never installed.

 

I may be interested Phillys. Did you request it to be painted ?

 

No it's still new and finished in a grey primer.
