I'm looking for a new daily and am partial to green generally, but especially partial because my 997.2 911 is in Porsche Racing Green. I started going down the rabbit hole of a X351 XJ Supercharged, but imagine my surprise when I did a nationwide search on Autotrader and did not see a single one in British Racing Green! I have a knack for hunting unicorns (took me well over a year to find my green 911), but I would've expected Jaguar, as a British brand, would have a ton finished in classic British Racing Green. I have a bit of time (until May) to find a car, but it would be good to know up front if I am going on another unicorn chase...
the XJ is a difficult car to find in general- much less Supercharged and BRG, you're essentially looking for a unicorn of a unicorn model, my search criteria was 2015+ SWB RWD V6 in gray or green with dark interior and wood panels <50K miles
after wading through all the typical LWB/AWD black gas guzzlers took me 6 full months to find a 16 Storm Grey R-Sport 40K miles and had to get it shipped from Iowa

Yes I think EliteZags is correct. The sales numbers for the XJ were just microscopic. I have read that Jaguar only sold several thousand XJ's each year with the majority of them going to the US. Just a car that did not sell and Jaguar has stopped production in 2019 with no replacement in site.
The worlds is into SUV's and large 4 door cars are just not hip anymore. One rumor is that Land Rover has been keeping Jaguar a float for a long time now. In fact Jaguar most popular selling model is an SUV which is a bit crazy since Jaguar's sister company Land Rover makes nothing BUT SUV's!

Thanks for the input. I have a knack for picking low production/low volume cars. Oh well, I have some time at least and am open to an XF Supercharged so that broadens it a bit.
having owned both the XJ interior is just on another world above the XF in every way makes it look like a Nissan and even classier than Porsche's, and the SWB is a manageable size
I did like the X250 body style a lot if they had a trim level that came close to the XJ interior I would've considered another one, the 2021 refreshed interior is decent but the 16-20 X260 is just bland plasticy mirror of XE/F-Pace

True, the XJ is much nicer. But I am specifically set on a RWD, V8 sedan, so this example doesn't work (though it is BRG!) because it's V6 and AWD. I live in Southern California so no need for AWD at all (and prefer the fun of RWD).
I'd also recommend keeping your eyes on the XJ prize. Having previously had an XE years ago, and driven XFs as service loaners, I'm less than impressed with those interiors. The XJ interior however, is sublime.
West Palm Beach just had a 2019 BRG XJ for sale. A v6 in tip-top condition, with cashew/truffle interior By the time I called to inquire, it had already sold. The sales professional (Don) I spoke with was very knowledgeable and mentioned it was in stock for just a couple weeks before it sold. I would not hesitate to purchase from him in the future... and I've come to accept that if I want a green XJ, I've gotta act fast and widen my search to be nationwide!
Like EliteZags advised: be ready to make compromises, and purchase from out of state! Here's that Florida one that just got away, off to its lucky new owner somehwere.
Staying local though - have you checked out the 2018 Black Supercharged listed at Riverside for $49.5k? I just noticed that XJ is up for sale again... the car was previously listed up in Livermore, where I came very, very close to purchasing it back in November. I posted an inquiry about it, on the other Jag forum: https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/...stains.137627/ It glides on the road like a dream, but unfortunately the exterior was in very bad condition when I checked it out in Livermore. HUGE scratch swirls on the door and rear quarter panels, strange horseshoe shaped white blemish on the hood above the right headlights. One of the rear wheels are also curbed. The engine bay was cleaned up by the Livermore dealer though.
Being in California, I think you and I will have much better luck and get more value out of finding a similar model year Quattroporte. I'm not really bonding with the F-Type I got in November, and am back in the search for a XJ or a Quattroporte. I'm finding alot of 2016+ QP6 listings in the 30k - 40k range. It won't have the v8 though, unless you get the GTS or Trofeo models... the interior and tech on the Maserati are leagues below the XJ, but the driving sensation eclipses the Jag in some regards. Mainly the instantaneous efficacy and sensation of the manual gear shifts on the Maserati QPs and Granturismos I've tested (and also on my previous Giulia Quadrifoglio) are substantially nicer than paddle-shifting I've experienced in any Jag. Plus the rocket-like propulsion from those twin turbo Maserati engines.
The biggest "driving feel" differentiator from my POV between the XJ and the Quattroporte, is that the transmission + gear ratios on the Italian cars deliver a very emotional and sporting driving experience... while the Jags are more stately, and cruise leisurely with grace and pace <--- unfortunately, that's also true of the F-Type, which is too tame and well-behaved for a "sports car". If I'm going to settle for comfortable GT-style driving experience, I might as well as get back in a sedan and have 4 seats!

That one looks to be JRG instead of BRG, right? So you want either as long as its green?
I got my XJL from that same Palm Beach Jaguar. Also had a good experience. When I bought mine I chose to give them $1000 on my Amex to hold it and then overnight a check to them for the full amount to make sure it I did not lose it to one of the other interested parties. You may have to get aggressively creative like that to secure the one you eventually find.
I was told that this dealer regularly gets these low mileage well maintained cars that are kept at "winter houses". I would keep checking regularly. You can also ask a dealer to look "into the future" for ones coming off lease and maybe get a jump on a green one. The 2019s should be coming off lease now so hopefully you will find your baby.
Not sure if all dealers feel this way, but my local dealer loathes the BRG cars, saying they are the ones with least consumer interest and are usually slow to sell. The JRG ones do get more interest, I guess probably due to the brighter metallic green. Personally I like them both, and have had 2 BRG cars so far.
Good luck with your continued search. It took me months of daily scouring of the internet to catch the one I got. The good ones don't last long for sure. I lost a couple before I got more aggressive.
This was mine I got in March 2021. Pic looks familiar. Stratus Grey was not my first choice, but everything else about the car was spot on and the color has grown on me. Am really glad I went for it. It has been a great car so far.
That Stratus Grey is gorgeous! Congratulations on your successful acquisition. Appreciate your anecdotes and encouragements that patience and perseverance pays off. And that key lesson echoed, to strike fast when inventory does appear.
I was under the impression that Jaguar Racing Green from the XK8 generation, is now rebranded as British Racing Green. And the former dark non-metallic British Racing Green was no longer available (shame). At least by the mid-2010's, as only BRG was available when I was speccing cars online and that BRG is the metallic version.. Agreed that the metallic green has strong opinions from dealers. When I was looking to get an XE back in 2016, neither of the dealers in San Diego would fill stock with BRG, and required a special order backed by a customer deposit.
I wonder if that Stratus Grey is now branded as Carpathian Grey? I had Carpathian and BRG as my top 2 choices, when looking for a F Type late last year.

I believe Stratus Grey is one of the few remaining Xirallic paints in modern vehicles, after replacing my 15 Stratus XF with a 16 Storm Grey XJ while I liked the lighter Storm shade the metallic in it does not seem to have quite as deep/colorful shimmer or pop under lighting as the Stratus did which I feel only Stratus owners have full acknowledgement/appreciation of. Most mistake the Stratus for black at night but viewing with any lighting can see it as much more complex and intrigue than any black.
think I read that certain earlier years of BRG were also Xirallic

Well I knew that I liked the Status Grey I ended up with. Now I know why. Was not familiar with Xirallic paints. It does have some truly remarkable colors lurking in the grey. Up close it is amazing in the light with specs of magenta, green, blue. Then at night it goes almost black. Very classy color for sure.
Always learning something new here. Thanks for the info.
This is my 2015 AWD 3.0 XJL in British Racing Green with London Tan Interior and Burl Walnut. Has the VAP ECU tune which takes it up to 416HP. Also has the rear seat package and a leather headliner. Probably going to sell it in the fall of 2023.
This one looks to be the old school BRG, but pics can be deceiving. Is that correct? Very nice example too!

It is a metallic paint and the original owner paid $1500.00 extra for it. It varies in intensity based upon the light conditions and can almost appear to be black in low light and in the dark.
sirshocked, there is a BRG one here in the DC area right now. It is the supercharged 3.0L, not the 5.0L like most would want. Not sure if that is a deal breaker or not. If you need more info, let me know.
