Default 2018 XJR575 for sale.....but what about

I've had my eye open for awhile now looking for a XJR575. Obviously difficult to find one. Especially with low miles and in decent shape. This one hit the market last week

https://www.audinorthpark.com/used-i...aguar&model=XJ

The color (satin corris gray) isn't for everyone but I kinda like it. Would much prefer Velocity Blue but have yet to see one available for sale.

This would replace my current 2016 XJL Portfolio as my daily driver. The problem is that I use an automatic car wash on my daily. I own enough other "fun" sports cars that need to be hand washed and as a result refuse to have a daily that I also need to hand wash. Especially here in the Midwest with salty roads. Need an automatic car wash to clean under the car. etc,
So, access to automatic car washes is NOT up for negotiation

According to the link below from Jaguar's own website there are certain "satin matte finishes" that they specifically say not to use an automatic car wash on.

I am 95% sure that pertains to the paint on this car for sale but hoping maybe I am wrong. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated!

https://www.jaguarusa.com/owners/car...int/index.html

Thanks
.

Perhaps you could wrap the car in something close to velocity blue that isn’t matte finish.

That is an interesting idea. Any idea what it would cost to get a high-quality wrap on a car like this?

DON’T USE AUTOMATED WASHERS

Mechanized cleaning equipment such as automated car washes can cause damage to your vehicle’s exterior.
is this specific to satin matte finishes, and is not specified on other paint types?

For my 2017 the handbook says (regardless of paint finish, for all cars):

seems that's just a general recommendation for all luxury vehicles, which is understandable if taking account risk of potential damage from contaminated brushes
touchless car washes are probably safe for the most part can't imagine much detriment from auto jets

My local dealer used to have a brush carwash they would run all their cars through, even the new ones. They are owned by a big Ford dealer here so I am guessing the carwash was a site design carryover. I forbid my dealer to ever put my cars in that swirl applicator. My dealer eventually figured it out, dismantled the brush and they hand wash now, using the blowers in the carwash to dry only.

About damage from one of those carwashes, it is not always minor. I was inside one once with my wife in her car and while covered in soap suds we got rammed in the back end by a mom in her Navigator who stomped the gas and knocked the thing in drive while she was turned around yelling at her kids. After we got out she tried to blame us for braking but that place has like 30 cameras .

that is my question. I think it has only to do with satin Matt finishes per the Jaguar link that I referenced as I don’t see that “caution” listed under any other paint that Jaguar uses

I have never done it, but starting to look into it for both my cars. I have read people paying ~$3k - $10k. So it sounds like it pays to shop around.

I think the carfax concerns me more than the color. Multiple tire replacements. Are there suspension alignment issues? Two battery replacements. Engine management computer replaced. I understand the car is sold with a warranty but still who wants a car that spends a lot of time in the shop. The service entries on the Carfax could be something or nothing but I would want to try and dig deeper and see what they were all about.

Good eye Max432, I noticed that tire replacement issue as well. Not sure what is going on. Seem to see that issue more and more nowadays on high end cars Carfax's. Also see the same issue w/ battery replacements

Hey folks, what about this solution?

3M’s “Scotchgard paint protection film pro series Matte”

https://www.3m.com/3M/en_LB/p/d/b5005067101/

that could help keep the paint in decent condition even if the car goes through an automatic car wash, correct?

Yes the entire paint protection products have really come on strong!
I see Ferrari's and other high end cars doing the entire car done now. Not just the impact surfaces like in the beginning.
