2019 XJL Collection edition numbering question

My 2019 Collection is the last 300 of the XJ. There is a number plate on the dash that says 1 of 300. Do all 300 say that or are the plates sequentially numbered?

1 of 300

It would have been more interesting if they did number them in sequence, but ---- it's just a nice gimmick. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than 300 or less than 300. I bought mine about a year ago, Santorini Black with Ivory interior. There were some updates required and a bit of minor work to get it to new car shape. All is well, so far. I do love that 400 plus horsepower of the V-8.

Mine was purchased at a Las Vegas auction by a dealer in OK with 8k miles on it. British racing green and the English tan interior. It's on the way to me in FL. If the plates aren't numbered then yes, there could be a thousand out there. That's bogus.

What things were not up to par that you had to "update?" For what it's worth, mine was Certified.

Sounds like a beauty! With 8000 miles, you should have saved a bunch of cash.. I got mine as "new", with less than a hundred miles on it. Used as a dealer demo, I was told. Considering it sat, unsold for a year or so, the software needed updated and the sliding roof needed an adjustment. Nothing major there. The big issue was rust-colored water that was spotting my newly painted garage floor. It was the A/C drain water, normally clear, but Jaguar's engineers decided to allow the A/C to drain right on top of the mufflers, which are covered with insulation. As the water trickled down around and through the insulation, it turned to a rusty-mud color. Probably not a problem if parked outside or somewhere where the A/C drip wouldn't be noticeable. Anyway, it was handled and I'm a happy camper. The dealer was very helpful and I've no problems since. I think if the BRG was avail when we bought, that might have been the choice. We liked the black and it was the only one with the Ivory interior, all others were black on black or white with black interior.. I had the badges removed from the trunk lid, leaving the Leaper and J-A-G-U-A-R in the center.

The "Collection" badge looked cheap in the photos. I may do some de-badging too. We have a luxury car dealer locally called The Collection. It's going to look like I'm advertising for them, and I hate that! Truth be told, I'd rather not advertise for Jaguar either. :) It's like defiling art. Yet some people never care or notice. I put a Vote for Obama sticker on my friend's pickup as a joke. He didn't notice it until years later when he went to put on a Vote for Trump sticker! LOL. I figured someone would tell him. Then I just forgot about it.

I may be wrong here, but if we know that the last 300 XJ's made were part of The Collection and you know where the VIN numbers ended, then can't you figure out what number in the sequence your car is? All you really need is the last 4 digits of the VIN. The last 6 digits as I recall were nothing more than the sequential number of vehicles made that year.

EfficientLifeChurch 11-30-2021 06:10 PM

Mine ends in 2443

KingFala 11-30-2021 06:14 PM

2462, for me. Now, all we need to know is who is # one.

I also have a 2019 XJL Collection, Santorini Black w/ Ivory interior.
As I understand it, it the last 300 and all were imported exclusively into the U.S.

What are the last four numbers of your VIN, if you don't mind?

ddanielcigars 12-07-2021 05:52 AM

2361

What is different between the collection edition and a regular supercharged?

I just picked up 2251. It's like a new car! The previous owner obviously took very good care of it.

With that VIN, it must be one of the early Collection editions.

I too just bought a 2019 XJL Collection, Santorini Black w/ Ivory interior, number 2381.
After having only Vanden Plas for the past 24 years the comfort of the XJL was unexpected and I love the sound of the moto

Congrats, and welcome to the club!

After reading plenty of concerning threads about NVH in the later XJL’s, I have been pleasantly surprised with how well and quiet it rides and handles the bumps in a sporty but luxurious and quality manner. I drive a 2014 Merc S550 side by side, and the Merc is definitely very nice and high quality luxury, with different personality, but I prefer the Jag.

Thank you!
