Auto High Beams

I have a 2011 XJL with a vin in the 12xxx series. Since getting the car, I have been unable to figure out how to activate the auto high beam feature. I followed the instructions in the owners manual to no avail.

This week I took the car in for service and asked the dealer to show me what I was doing wrong. After talking to service techs and new car salesmen, I was informed that my vehicle was not fitted with auto high beam headlamps.

Does anyone else have this situation?

I believe that you would have the option showing in the instrument pack menu. push the right ok button to bring up the menu and scroll through it even going into each sub menu. if your car has it there will be one menu that says HIGH BEAM ASSIST. in that menu it would have the option to turn it on and off as well as which side of the road you drive on. Another way to tell is there is a huge pod growing from the rear view mirror with a reflective camera thingy pointed towards the front of the car. You can't miss that thing it is like 4 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches high and connected to the rear view mirror.

I have gone into each menu using the OK button. The manual says it's listed under settings, but nothing in that sub menu relates to headlights.

I do have the large pod attached to the rear view mirror and can see the opening for the reflective camera.

Why would some vin series have this feature and not others?

It seems your dealer has confirmed that your car was not fitted with "Intelligent High Beam".

Another way to confirm that your car does or doesn't have the "Driver Assistance Package" is to check whether or not your car has the active seat belts feature enabled (brake hard, and the belts tighten up), whether the headlights swivel into a corner, or whether you have the LED cornering lamps. If you have none of these features, you won't have the Intelligent High Beam feature.

Mine doesn't have any of these features. so I must assume that I don't have the Intelligent High Beam.

Thank you everyone for your help.
