Considering a 2013 XJ AWD- thoughts?

Hey all, as you can see from my signature I'm no stranger to Jaguar. But this is my first post in the X351 forum. I'm looking to replace my LR3 next year with a 2013/2014 SWB XJ AWD for my daily driver.

My question is, can anyone here comment from personal experience how the AWD with snow tires handles the white stuff? I'm nervous, having only ever driven 4x4s in the wintertime here in Chicago and I've read the system is RWD-biased. I know there's some other threads on here similar to this, but they seem to only talk about the RWD cars, and 5.0L ones at that for the most part. So I apologize if this thread becomes redundant.

Also I will be keeping the LR3 for any major storms (and for the utility in general), so I only am concerned with the Jag being able to handle moderate winter conditions. Thanks!

A set of winter tyres would improve the ability of the car to handle snow and ice. Of course, you'd need a separate set of wheels and swap over sometime in late autumn or early winter.

The AWD option was introduced for just the situation you describe.

From driving one on a skid pad at a Jaguar Alive Experience and this article you should be in great shape to expose that cat to the salty elements. 2013 Jaguar XF and XJ 3.0 AWD First Drive ? Review ? Car and Driver
