I am confused...

The Jaguar CPO makes your Jaguar warranty 7 years or 100,000 miles.

So you paid $2,500 for an additional year service contract?

 

There seems to be different lengths of CPO warranty?
My 2014 went into service in August of 2013 and it's 6 year,100K miles CPO ran out August 2019.

I have seen 7 years a lot but never 8?

It was an additional 2ish years from when i bought it in 9/17. If i am remembering correctly, the issue was the CPO was 6 years/100k, and i was approaching the 6 year limit. so they did an additional 2 years/100k for $2250 (not $2500)

 

I have a 2008 XKR with the floppy glove compartment door issue. I am trying to do the repair outlined in the Jag TSB .JTB000191/2010. I have instruction 76.52.03 to remove the glove compartment. This instruction says to remove the passenger side footwell trim panel (3 clips). Which panel are they talking about?

A previous owner made the repair described in the TSB. What I have found is the damper arm is broken clean off from the glove box door. So I will need to devise some way to reattach or glue the damper arm back on or replace the glove box completely (used on EBAY at $445, ouch!).

You are also in the wrong forum. This Forum is for newer XJ's. Specifically X351's which were built 2009-2019. Suggest you go to the X150 Forum which is for second generation XK's built from 2006-20414. There you will find several threads dealing with the glove box door issue. Good luck

 

You're another inadvertent victim of Infinite Scroll, a Forum feature that did it to you. Fortunately, you can turn it off if you wish.

I also had a good experience with an aftermarket warranty, and with Jaguar. Stuart is a bit negative on this but that’s just his opinion. They definitely pay off, especially with cars like these. I paid about $3000 for mine, and used about $7-8000 worth in about 1 1/2 years. Water pump and couple other issues was about $2100… my warranty covered it, BUT, this is what you need to know… any amount the garage or wherever you go, that charges more than $100/hr, you will pay that difference.. plus the deductible if you have one, plus the taxes on the parts ordered.
so for example, if there’s 5 hours of labor, and they charge $200/hr, then you will pay $500… little things like that you need to consider.., but all in all, with a jag, you need a warranty in case something super expensive pops up!!

 

I think this owner of an auto repair business pretty much covers what everyone should know. Yes, Company A is going to be different than Company B, but, what is the price difference? You go cheap, plan on more out of your pocket. Also be aware that as he discusses, you say overheat your motor in our cars and destroy the motor, some of these products may not cover the motor if they can prove that you (the owner of the car) did not do the correct things. The company is going to say something like "the repair is on you because you drove the car 2 miles when it was over heating and that is why the motor is damaged". Now it is up to you to prove that they should cover the repair. The story about the BMW is telling about some of the products out there. I personally do not get the packages, but my son got one on his vehicle and it paid of very well (2 motors, 2 trannies, numerous computers, and some other work). But, he had a friend in the auto sales business and hooked him up with a good plan, not the one that the dealership makes the most money off of in the way of a kickback.

First post, so please be gentle with me. I recently purchase a 2019 XJ R-Sport with an third party warranty. I paid 5,000 dollars for 5 year, 50,000 milage. The company is called “Road Advantage” (NOT ENDORSING nor RECOMMENDING) . I went to a dealership near me, and their policy is NOT to accept these polices anymore (sign below). The service tech I dealt with stated that he has worked with them before and has had issues. I did contact them and they stated several positive things (for example paying MSRP for the parts, paying with a credit card two hours after the job, etc). I’ve contacted other dealerships in the area and found that they will accept them, but if the warranty company doesn’t pay, the owner of the vehicle will have to pay (VERY FAIR). I also talk to another dealership and he could not remember the warranty company but he did mention the company DOES NOT COVER “WEAR and TEAR” (still VERY FAIR).
