Finish on wood trim on dash cracking
I have a 2014 XJ L Portfolio and the wood trim that wraps around the dash under the windshield, the finish is cracking. Has anyone else had this issue and is this covered under the warranty? Thanks.
Most likely the dealer won't cover it. Remember cosmetic items have 1 year coverage.
If you want them refinished I use Madera Concepts. This is the same company Jaguar sends their repairs to here in the US.
I have had several things redone on my 2005 STR and they came out perfect.

Yes I have the same problem.
I thought they would. My 2004 had a piece of trim around the right rear window replaced in 2007 and the warranty covered that. Interior wood trim should fall into the same category. Glad it worked out!

I have a 96 XJ with cracks. All wood trim on any vehicle will crack like this eventually. I have found that a little tiny foam sponge brush with a little clear polyurethane will fill the crack and keep it looking almost as good as new. After the polyurethane wicks into the crack make sure to wipe off the excess quickly.
It is not a permanent restoration but it will look a lot better than cracked and peeling

Maybe seek out a UV protectant for the clear coat. Not for reparation, rather to prevent it from happening/worsening on other interior wood pieces. I think I read 303 Aerospace Protectant does this. I haven't used it personally so this in not an endorsement of the product. I'm sure there are lots of options.
I'd be concerned about replacing wood trim because with wood (depending on the grain/type) no two pieces are alike and if veneers have been matched or are particularly fetching, the replacement may disappoint. Not sure how dealerships handle that. I suppose for wood trim that is less unique the point is moot as it will likely match.
