Got my 2011 XJL 5.0 V8 Supercharged. A beast on the road !!!

Hello everyone,

Finally got my Jaguar XJL 5.0 V8 Supercharged 2011 model. I am totally impressed by the car, its drive, finish, and luxury. A beast on the road.

This car has done 63K miles and very clean. Maintained by the agency in Abu Dhabi. No warranty so I need to be a bit careful. The tires are bit old so will change them soon.

I have driven S500, Audi A8L, Panamera and Bentley and this one outstands all of them. Please see the pics below. Also, I have 2 questions.

1. This car will be my daily driver to work and other places. What are some tips to maintain the car and its performance and slow the degrade?
2. How can I change the speaker's settings and update the maps? Can I put the latest infotainment system or update?

You can upgrade the screen to your radio to improve the responsiveness of it. Supposedly not a hard job. From there, Jaguar has a new map set that you can get (last seen for $149 USD as I recall direct from Jaguar).

Asfor keeping the car in tip top shape, keep on top of the maintenance and keep an eye on the water pump. If you are going to have an issue, odds are, it will be there. If you start seeing coolant being lost from the overflow tank, time to replace the water pump most likely.

Nice color combination... enjoy the power!

Lovely car you've got there ! It looks in tip-top condition. The suspension is virtually identical to my car, (the previous model), except the front springs are steel not air. This means you should not be surprised if a mechanic or a roadworthiness tester tells you you have wear in some suspension bushes. Some of these don't last very long like the lower spring unit bushes, but are replaceable at not too much cost..

Do you have any service records?
Because by 63K I would bet the water pump has already been changed on a 2011. But that is probably the number one repair for the XJ. The 6 and 8 cylinder engines both use the same pump.
If the car over heats (some have reported no indication?) pull over NOW! Don't care where you are. You will fry that very expensive all Aluminum engine quickly.

Watch the oil level-it's a bit strange to check.
Do you know how to do it?
We have the owners manuals here on the forum if you did not get one.

Maybe too late now that you purchased it but check that the Pano roof does not creak/pop when the car twists. Like turning into a driveway that goes uphill. Or railroad tracks.

Their good cars and my 2014 has been perfect but you have to expect some repairs/maintenance at you age/mileage. I would expect suspension bushings causing noise over bumps.
I would change the coolant, transmission fluid and rear end fluid if it was my car. Check the wear on the brakes. I changed mine from stock because of the brake dust.

Thanks for your reply. I will look for the maps. Where can i find the new infotainment screen pack?

Yes I have service record for this car. The owner actually changed the water pump and the box also.

The car does not have any popping sound coming from roof and even the suspensions are great. On the road is it quite car.

The previous owner changed the engine oil in the last service and said it will last for 10K KM.

Can you send me the copy of owners manual.

I will do the coolant, transmission oil change asap to have a peace of mind.
