Loose lug nuts/bolts

As I was cleaning the wheels, I noticed that the lug nuts on the front wheels have some give to them. The rear wheels nuts/boltd seem to be normal. I tried to tighten them but they seem to be on very tight already and I couldn't tighten them anymore; but they definitely can be moved (rattle). I'm no mechanic but I've never seen this before. Is this suppose to be normal?

Do you have the infamous nuts with the pressed on SS cover?
These can rattle and you will feel some movement in the cover although the nut is tight.

It could possibly seem to be loose from the two piece lugnut (tin cap piece of crap) just my opinion...

Tighten them by hand bot by torque wrench , impact gun and leave it where it no longer tightens . This is what I do on my rides and I also use torque wrench and tighten them to the specs .However, tighten them by hand have never been a bad experience for me but machine yes

"Do you have the infamous nuts with the pressed on SS cover?"

I'm not sure what that is. I have tried to tighten it more by hand but it seems very tight already.

Was at a Discount tire the other day when a guy came in saying they didn't tighten his lug nuts. The same thing happened the caps were loose/nuts tight, he felt bad.By the way he had aw sum meats on the truck / mud treads, same tires I put on the grand daughters Grand Cherokee except hers are All Season. Firestone Wranglers 225/75R/16s.

They are lug nuts which have a stainless steel cover pressed on, this cover is not part of the nut and can feel loose and rattle.

These nuts with the stainless steel covers can rust badly underneath the cover, and get to a state where they round-off underneath the cover when removal is attempted. Mine checked out OK last week, (I had to have a wheel off to replace the rollbar link). If found to be badly corroded, replace with new ones before it gets to the stage where you cannot get them off, then you're in trouble !

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to buy total stainless items !

Wander over to the S-Type section and search for 1 pc. lug nuts, plenty of info there..
