Default Low quality Sirius radio music ?

So i was listening to Sirius in the XJ and noticed that on my drive home, the quality was really crappy, as in low quality highly compressed junk. Not sure if it was just poor signal during the drive or something, but i connected my phone through bluetooth on youtube/pandora and the sound was perfect.
Has anyone had experience with sound quality with the sat radio in the car?
Should i take to dealer?

I totally agree the sound quality of Sirius satellite radio is intrinsically inferior to normal FM broadcast radio, and especially HD (High Definition) FM broadcast radio.

Secondly, I don't appreciate SiriusXm's sleazy business practices.

They sent me a "Payment Notice" for $220.85 long after I cancelled their service, for a period of time in which they didn't even provide their service to my Jaguar.

Buyer beware of this outfit.

Sirius allocates digital compressed bandwidth based on the type of content. In general, talk stations on Sirius often have audible artifacts because they are allocated the least bandwidth. Music stations are much better. I have noticed very occasionally where a music channel was not allocated the proper bandwidth, but this is usually a temporary condition and might be due to a technical issue.

I do not have an XJL, but if it is like many vehicles, it may have separate audio adjustments for each input source. If you are finding that the music is consistently horrible, also check the audio settings specifically while Sirius is selected.

I am no fan of satellite radio and do not even tune to it when they offer me "free" days,, as a matter of fact we do not use it on any of our cars. We much prefer Pandora via Bluetooth. As for reception, starting in 2013 an improved antenna system was fitted to the XJ as can be seen in the "shark fin" antenna above the rear window that greatly improved reception, so I have been told.

HD FM does not mean high definition; rather HD is a made-up name and more equates to "hybrid digital".
