Default Mass air flow sensor where is it ??

Hi all I need to look at my mass air flow sensor clean or replace as keep getting restricted performance and diagnostic software is telling me to look here. A picture would me lovely or has anybody got a repair manual like a Haynes pdf.

Clifford, if you have a 2011+ XJ, you have 2 MAF sensors, not just one. They are easy to find. Look behind the headlights. You will see the air boxes there (where you put the filters). Where the line comes out to heat to the motor, you should see a small box (about 2cm x 2cm, or 1"x1") bolted to the top of the tube. This is your MAF sensor. It will have a connector on it with 5 wires attached to it.

When I saw this post, my first thought was that to OP must have KN filers and that they may have been over oiled. IMHO

I have just recently replaced a pair of the MAF sensors, thought these pics would help, if we are talking about the same car.

I know that this is an older discussion, but could someone enlighten me on how to remove that yellow retainer, without breaking it, as I want to clean our MAFS sensors.
