Thanks for responding I felt alone with this miserable repair haha.

There are shields that for the most part keep a lot of the rusty stuff at bay. But car did spend a few years down in Florida. It’s got 113,000 on the clock.

About the connector it looked fine on the pump so I reluctantly chanced it not inspecting the harness connector. Which to really inspect you much uncap it and dismantle it. Otherwise things appear ok. Hard to explain but the pic of the original posters the connector is split open so you can see the little female pin connectors, lesson learned. Luckily the state inspection doesn’t come around till august of next years. I was able to repair and clear codes and put enough miles for memory to store and pass the state smog tests. Which is making me scratch my head did the new pump fail that quickly? Defective? Not sure. Now the light comes on instantly😔. I did not replace the filler tube as suggested but if it’s a hard pipe what does it actually fail on it? I’ll need to unplug and remove the cover from the connector to inspect. Just looking for alternative ideas.

Tough repair to do in the driveway on jack stands too!
So good job on that!

I will be watching this but have no experience in fixing it.

Hello there, I have the same code, P2402. Already for a year or so. And the check engine light comes with it every time, but further no problems whatsoever.
Can somebody point out the exact place where the pump is?
And did somebody solve this problem finaly?
Thanks!

Yes read this thread? He has pictures where he dropped the rear sub-frame. Then the pump is mounted above that. You need to replace the pump.
He explained it very well so just review his posts.

Yes, I read the whole thread of course but I'm not sure I located the pump, is it the black part in the middle of this picture?

That looks like the EPB motor to me? It's located in the same area.

I think you are looking for this?

It's called an EVAP Leak Detection Pump
More pictures here that might help too?

Well, I assume it would be this one, no? From the pictures here above.
But the exact location is still a mystery to me... ;-)

I'm sorry, I can't help with the location of the canister/pump,

However, when mine failed (2012 5.0 NA), the TSB called for replacement of the pump, fuel filler pipe, gas cap and application of additional insulation.

If the pump fails, it can create negative pressure in the fuel tank, this may cause the filler tube to collapse. Several owners have reported difficulty refueling their car due to collapsed filler tubes.

The fuel filler tube collapsed on my wifes total POS BMW (Thankfully long gone). BMW initially refused to repair the 6 month old car because "I'd refilled the tank to fast"!!!!! Eventually they fixed the problem, then wanted to charge me for a full tank of gas.....Nope, *******

Yes, tell me about these Germans Wombat, they still like robbing people over all this years, they're still riding my granddad's bike overthere.
Strange guy's, refilling too fast... That's something you/they could do with beer, not with gasoline right?

I have no real problems whatsoever with the pump, but it would be nice if the check engine light wouldn't appear anymore, that's all. I love a clean display.
I asked my Dutch provider about it, let's see if he can help, will let you know here.

Can you pass emissions with that error present?
Not sure?

Yes, here in Mexico I can if there's no code.
So before I go to the verification (twice a year here) I erase the code and it won't even appear within the next hours and only after a restart.

So to be sure I put the car without code and let the car running like everybody else here.

With some codes, 4 special codes I understood, you don't pass verification, I don't know if this is one of them because I never tried with the code.
Recently I had another code, P008B, which popped up directly again all the time, and they rejected the verification (you can try twice for the same payment but it was rejected twice because right away the code popped up again, sometimes you're lucky and it pops up later, not this time of course...).
And than you're not allowed to drive actually, but the good part here in Mexico is, you go to some other "more friendly" verification center, you pay 60 dollars in stead of the normal 30 and they let you pass.
I always get the "0" which allows you to drive any day, with lesser emission results you are not allowed to drive some days of the week, for instance two friday's and any saturday of any month.
This code P008B had something to do with the gasoline pump but didn't give me any other issues than the code and the check engine light either, and some texts in the display once in a while like "gasoline pump failure" and "have your car serviced" or something like that. Just annoying, and it makes you insecure on larger trips.
Last week I had the pump changed for a new one and the code never appeared anymore.

So now only still trying to tackle code P2402 that was already there before the gaspump code.
