Default Problem checking Oil level

Good afternoon everyone, I'm having a big problem checking my oil. I hit the menu button with the key in their on position and when I stroll down to check oil it reads not available. Is there another way to check the oil or how can I reset this unavailable feature?

Any help will be appreciated

hanks

JB

Whenever you have a question about operating your XJ, the first thing to do is read your Owner's Handbook.

Thanks for your reply. I'm familiar with this technique which I did mention in my initial statement above.

After watching a few YouTube videos one particular model Jaguar can only be checked, the oil level when the hood is popped open. I popped the hood and everything worked out according to the steps above. I had this same problem in my last Jaguar XJ as well. Apparently some Jaguars you have to pop the hood in order for that menu technique to work and get an oil reading. That's weird but that's what worked for me.

Thank Start

For checking the oil level the engine must have been off for 10mins. But there are faster way: Pop the hood open and when system say that the oil level check are not available, pull the cruise control "Cancel" level twise on steering wheel. System will now show you the "online" level, but note: If you just runned the engine, part of the oil are still in heads etc, so do not fill up to the max when using this method.

I check my oil level at least weekly. No need to open the hood or do anything else except punch a few buttons on my 2014 XJR?
I find I get a more accurate measurement if I check it first thing in the morning after sitting all night.
Still miss the dipstick but have adapted to the button pushing method.

Exactly, if you engine have not been running for last 10min, you dont need to open hood.
