Which Snow Tires and Wheels for 2012 XJL

So I am still interested in the 2012 XJL Portfolio, but am concerned with it's drivability during our Wisconsin snowy winter months.

After reading the forum, it sounds like I would need to change to dedicated snow tires for the winter months and switch back to the all season or summer tires for spring/summer/fall.

I believe the car I'm interested in has 19" tires on it right now. I would like to know....

Which snow tires are best recommended for snow/ice and what size I should be looking for to get price quotes?

Also, should I have the tire dealer simply change the tires onto the existing rims/wheels or get complete new set of rims/wheels and if so does someone have a link to which wheels/rims I should get?

I'd really like to know the answers to these snow tire/wheel questions before I actually buy the car.

Many thanks to all who can try and help me out with this.

I would consider Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 tires, a performance tire currently on sale at Tire Rack for $1,177.38 after rebate for a set of four, or Pirelli's Winter Carving Edge run-flats (50 miles @ 50 MPH), currently on sale at Tire Rack for $981.24 after rebate for a set of four (this is also a stud-able tire, which won't do you any good in Wisconsin since they are illegal), but the run-flat capability might prove a life-saver if it gets you to your destination under arduous conditions (including civil insurrections, etc.). :)

I have 20" Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 tires on my XJLSS for winter here in Toronto. These in combination with selecting Winter mode to curtail engine power and moderate take-off results in very sure-footed driving in reasonable amounts of snow. They weren't cheap, but with my desire to stick with 20" wheels year-round, meant choices were very limited.

With 19" wheels you will have have more options available and a better price point.

I have a set of 19" XJ wheels that I used on my supercharged XF for the winter. My wife and I are moving south and no longer require them. They have a set of Blizzak snow tires on them with 2 seasons of use. You could probably get one more winter out of them. Let me know if your interested.
