Peter, I had a fluid leak from my steering system too. I found mine to be from the house that runs from the cooler to the steering rack. Atleast on my car, the 180 degree bend at the steering rack was too tight and this caused the hose to leave a fitting at a funny angle and resulted in the hose failing. I was able to replace the hose (have to buy the whole cooler/hose combo, but can separate the hose that is needed via a fitting). In my case, there was a fitting on the steering rack that allowed the hose to slide out (single bolt holding 2 hoses in place) and then you had a fitting up near the air box on the driver's side (US) that could be undone. Routing the new hose into place was the hardest part. I also opened up the 180 degree bend just slightly to take the pressure off of the hose and allow it to naturally slide up between the motor and strut tower to prevent this same issue from happening again. If you get a wrecker cooler unit, you will want to get new o-rings from the dealership for both hoses.
My leak initially was thought to be from the steering rack. But, after looking closer, I found it to be coming from the hose. So, may want to get under there and confirm where the leak is coming from.
