Used XJ Supercharged just bought
Hello to all. I have just bought a 2013 XJ Supercharged from my local Mercedes dealer here in Palm Springs, CA.
Here is the car I bought if interested:
Pre-Owned 2013 Jaguar XJ Supercharged Supercharged 4dr Sedan in Palm Springs #M11567A | Mercedes-Benz of Palm Springs
I am not new to Jaguar or this forum group as I have owned (and still do) a 2011 XKR and have very much enjoyed and learned from my fellow owners in that "section".
My question(s) would be these:
Any suggestions for a new owner of a 3+ year old XJ SC relative "watch-outs", service or maintenance items that I should attend to?
I assume these models (like the XKR) need attention to maintaining a good battery charge.
I still have about a year of warranty left - so should I get the dealer after anything in particular (while I can)?
Any sage advice from anyone welcomed.
Thanks and I look forward to much good reading in my future!

And here I go with another question already....
The car has had "a leaper" added to the hood (by the original owner). Would anyone happen to know if that is simply "stuck on" or is it mounted via holes in the hood?
I am inclined to remove it (but only if it does not have holes associated with it's mounting).
If "stuck on" does anyone have a suggestion for my approach to removal?

Leapers are not an original accessory for the X351 so as it is aftermarket it could be mounted either way.
The only way you will find out is to pop the bonnet/hood and look for any mounting hardware.
You may find the base has been bolted on but the leaper part can sheer off (for pedestrian protection). As these cars have deployable bonnets it is not a good idea to add leapers to them.

Ceckman,
Excellent choice! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! My "Watch out" list:
1. Watch out for your right foot. Just like your XKR, the exhilarator pedal is addictive and attracts blue lights.
2. Watch out for coolant leaks. The 5.0L engine water pump is prone to failure, and JLR is on the 4th version of that pump. When you park, walk around the front of your car and if you smell antifreeze have your dealer check for leaks asap. Mine was replaced under CPO warranty at 30K miles.
Other than the water pump, my XJ has been bulletproof.
You've been on the X150 Forum for a while, so browse around here for lots of helpful info.
I wonder how many other XJ owners also own an XK/XKR. I'll start a new thread and ask.

xdave,
Since you're in the UK, you might not be aware that US market XJ models are not equipped with the pedestrian protection system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration determined that pedestrian protection systems would favor pedestrians and, therefore, be discriminatory. To be politically correct, drivers and pedestrians must be treated equally, with outcomes determined by the laws of nature and survival of the fittest.
In case anyone thought I was serious, this was an attempt at British dry humor.

From my looking into leapers they were all bolted on. When I first ordered my SuperSport i purchased an OEM Leaper to mount on the hood. I never mounted it and did a tradeout with the dealer for credit towards the tailpipe finishers.

They sell a stick-on leaper. I have one, but never installed.
